I asked this question on the admissions board also, but I thought someone here might have more specific info. Our son has a 3.4 GPA, with a M+CR SAT of 1460. He is also a virtual lock for NMSF. Unfortunately, he also has a couple of D’s on his transcript. He’s in a magnet program, and his magnet grades are good. On the surface this would mean a tuition + room scholarship, but could he be denied admission due to the D’s? His proposed major is math, and he has excellent math grades. His D’s are in English; what if he still passed the AP? We’re planning on coming down from MD to visit this summer, but if not being admitted is a strong possibility we may not want to drive that far. I’ve contacted admissions, but I understand this isn’t the time of year to expect a prompt reply. Any opinions here?
They don’t dig that far down into his transcript - or at least from my understanding. They look at the overall picture and will look at his grades if he is in honors or AP and give more weight to those if needed. If he is NMSF and his SAT/ACT scores are good he will have no problem getting accepted.
He exceeds the requirements for admittance to Ole Miss per their website.
I just got an email from an admissions rep saying that he meets the requirements. He may have problems with some colleges, but not Ole Miss.
Don’t look back, look forward & fix whatever was causing that.
