Okay so I applied January and my application was complete early February.. I still haven't heard anything!! No emails, no letters, can't log in to paydeposit site... nothing. A week or two ago I emailed them and they told me my application was still "under review." Do I have any sort of chance at this point? I have a 3.45 GPA, my current GPA for this semester is a 3.6 (they don't know that, but is this something I should tell them? I'm afraid it'll be too late by the time it gets there, but thats what I thought two weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything...), I mentioned to them in my essay about job shadowing I did last semester, and I have every required pre-requisite completed in order to assume junior status as a nursing student. I am transferring from a SUNY community college - not sure if this helps..

HELP????

Also, does anyone know the stats of nursing transfer students who are accepted/rejected? Or how many spots they award to nursing transfers? This is information I cant find on the website, although I do know that they are a very transfer friendly school.

Hi Kaitlyngirl! I am having the same situation as you. I applied the DSON at the end of Jan, and I sent all the materials in Feb. However, I still haven’t heard anything from them. I also called them several times this month, they told me the same thing as what they told you. I also asked if it’s possible that I’m on the waiting list since I haven’t gotten the decision yet, but they said if I’m on the waiting list, I will be informed by mail. So now I don’t know what’s going on. I remember I asked them months ago about the number of seats for transfer students, they said it is very limited, probably just 8-15, and maybe this semester is even fewer. So, I really don’t know if we still have any chance. I am a student from CUNY. I will complete all the prerequisite courses they require by the end of this semester. My GPA so far is 3.82. I thought it was a good GPA, but still, haven’t heard from them…

oreo, I have… I figured it was kind of a given and wouldn’t have to actually point that out in my post… Obviously thats the first people I’d call but they’re clearly not giving me any info

maomao, Wow, I think you will be okay, I cannot see them rejecting a nursing student with a 3.82 and all prerequisites done. They actually called me today to tell me that my application is still under review and they appreciate me being patient, and they accept students on a rolling basis, blablabla. But I don’t understand how if they accept on a rolling basis how it’s been two months and I still have not heard anything, yet people who have applied after me have heard something, even if it is not good news.

@Kaitlyngrl It is hard to say. I just got to know someone who has already accepted by the Decker around March 15th. His GPA is about 3.5, which is lower than mine. If DSON only looks at GPA, It is not reasonable that I still haven’t heard from them. It’s good that they actually called you today. I kind of think that Binghamton has already forgotten me HAHA! We can do nothing but wait now. I really hope we can get good results! Let’s try not to be nervous. Just focus on studying or something else~ :-D. Please keep me posted if anything new for you!

@kaitlyngrl wait, I’m wondering whether we applied for the same program. Did you apply for the RN-track or the Traditional Transfer Program? I applied for the latter. Yours is the RN-track right?

No I applied for the traditional transfer program also… But if they only accept 8-15, I’m thinking it’s probably not looking so good this late in the game. I also don’t know why they need to look at my application for so long… I mean they told me over a week ago it was “under review” and then told me yesterday it was still “under review”… I’m starting to think they may have looked at it, saw that I met requirements so they don’t want to reject me, but are waiting to accept me just in case someone better comes along…

If you haven’t been rejected then your still being considered. You have to at least think of that as promising. If they made there decision they sure wouldn’t let your app hang around and let them collect dust.

I think your right to assume they are waiting until the last moment to see what is best for the program application wise, but I wouldn’t call it quits so early. Its very competitive these days and although it might be hard to see it now we do have to be somewhat thankful these folks take as long as they do. If the process wasn’t so tiresome then there would be no value behind the “accepted” letter and all things that come with it :S

@ Kaitlyngrl Nope, still nothing! There is no use to call them. They will just tell you to wait. I’m thinking that the deadline of paying the deposit is May 1st, so it can’t be later than that, right?

@Juicec Did you also apply for DSON? Have you heard anything?

I’m starting to think my application was lost or something… and I don’t think they care about the May 1st deadline… I think you have until May 1st or 20 days after your acceptance to make a decision, whichever is later. I wish they would just say SOMETHING already… every other school wants a decision by May 1st so I’d like to know if I can go to my top school before I have to sign away at some other school.

then who will you call? the nursing school or admissions office? I’m sure if you call the admissions office, you won’t get the answer. They won’t give you any information. I want to call the nursing school, but I don’t have the number.

It’s alright… I’m not going to apply again in the spring. I actually made a deposit today at MSMC NY so I’ll be there for the next three years! A little more expensive and a longer program but I think I’ll be happy there… I’m really excited!

Though I did not apply to nursing, I did get an e-mail that I was waitlisted.
Pretty disappointing, because I know my chances are slimmer now since I’ve heard not many get accepted from the wait list.

Sucks because Bing was my top choice. But I am planning to apply as a transfer again next semester.

Really?? And you’re a transfer right? HAHA That’s so awesome!! You should totally add me on facebook… Have you started looking for roommates? I don’t know how they do it but I wanna go to one of those groups on facebook and start looking around… if they have one of those groups?
