Hello!! Im an American student and interested in university's in Canada. But Im trying to get a dual citizenship for Canada to get the citizen rate. Is this possible because im planning to stay there a couple years after my studies and learn more about Canada as well can my plan work or there are some red tape that is attached ???

Okay, things don’t work like that. You cannot just ‘get’ Canadian citizenship, unless perhaps one of your parents is a citizen. You have to fill all sorts of requirements, from getting visas to residence requirements. Furthermore, you probably would not get the ‘citizen rate’ as that is also usually attached to you having lived in Canada for several years.

If one of your parents is a Canadian citizen, you can apply for one. If not, then it is quite a rigorous process to get immigration.

Canadian citizens, who are currently residing out of the country (Canada), are assessed Canadian tuition rates; however, they will not be eligible for in-state (in province) tuition rates.
