Dual Citizenship - help or hurt (Ivy League)

Hi everyone,

I’ve lived in America my whole life but I have a Dual Citizenship (US and India). Should I indicate that - would it help me or hurt me? I know that being Asian is an over-represented minority so that hurts me, but I don’t know much about how dual citizenships factor in.

Thanks!

Lots of students are dual nationals. Unless it is a critical part of your essay, there really isn’t much point in mentioning it.

It’s a non factor like happymom says

Does India allow its citizens to have other citizenships?

I think you’re probably referring to an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card which is technically not dual citizenship. The Indian government by law does not allow dual citizenship.

What if you have dual citizenship with an underrepresented country?

As another replier stated, India does not allow dual citizenship.

@soosoo948 what country?
