I'm taking an evening course at the local college because of a scheduling conflict at my high school. I must take the class (Music Appreciation) since I must take a Fine Art class to meet my state's graduation requirements. It is for dual credit and will appear on my high school transcript.

The common app has an option to list all courses taken at a college or university "for credit". Am i required to list this course as a college class, which would require me to submit a transcript from the local college to everywhere I apply, or can I just list the course under the First Semester column of Current Year Courses (where my high school classes are listed)?

This the only class I have taken and plan to take at the college here.

Thanks for your help!...

I need an opinion on this as well. I take a college course at my high school through the local community college. I put it on my current senior courses, but I also listed the college in the college section. I'm unsure of it though, I might take it out.

bump.. I would like to hear the answer to this question.

I emailed my admissions officer for the University of Chicago about this and she said that I can list my dual credit as a current year course, and as long as it's reported on my high school transcript, I don't need to submit a college transcript.

I would think other schools comparable to Chicago have similar policies.
Hope this helps others out...

UHSdebater: From what I know, Stanford, Harvard, and MIT accept this as well. (A friend of mine took many junior college courses and didn't need to send in a transcript from the JC because it was reported on his high school transcript.)
