How difficult would it be for me to obtain dual-degree status once I matriculate to Penn. I will be at Wharton studying Business & Public Policy, and I want to get a second degree from CAS in Political Science. I know for students from other schools trying to get the Wharton degree is difficult, but is it easier the other way around? Also, do AP credits help fulfill some general requirements so that I could complete my dual-degree status in the normal four year undergraduate period?

Any answers some of you experienced Penn students can provide would be appreciated.

You can apply for dual-degree status after your second, third, or fourth semester at Penn. I think you need a 3.0 to be considered, and admission isn't competitive.

AP credits cannot be used to satisfy requirements in either the College or Wharton, with two exceptions: AP English can satisfy one of the language, arts, and culture requirements in Wharton; and a 4 on an AP foreign language test exempts you from the foreign language requirement in both schools. With early, careful planning, though, it's possible to double/triple/quadruple-count enough courses.
