Dual degrees and sub-matriculation

As far as I understand, CAS students can take courses in Penn's other schools (say, Wharton). Aside from this, students can apply for dual degree programs. Does this mean you major in two subjects? And, do the subjects have to be related?
Lets say I want to major in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at CAS but also get an MBA from Wharton; how would I do that? There is something called sub-matriculation but I'm not sure what that is.
Can anyone clarify?
Thanks

You can’t get an MBA as an undergraduate…

Sorry about that. Lets say major in NELC at CAS and also want a concentration from Wharton in OPERATIONS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT. Is that possible?

I believe that you can do that, but you would only get one degree unless you do the Huntsman Dual-degree program.

Would Huntsman work for the two degrees I mentioned? Is there an uncoordinated dual degree program? I’m applying only to CAS…

There is an uncoordinated dual degree program for CAS and Wharton. I don’t know much about Huntsman though, sorry.

Would I have to apply to Wharton to do the dual degree (CAS + Wharton) just like a regular transfer student? Are admission rates as tough as a regular transfer student?
Thanks

I think Huntsman would only allow you to major in International Studies (I don’t know if the major you specified would fit into that). You could do an uncoordinated dual-degree, but there is no program, and it is significantly more difficult than doing the coordinated program (as you have to fulfill the requirement for BOTH degrees, whereas the coordinated program waives some requirements).

This thread should help you out, I think.

That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot!

No problem, have you applied yet?

Just finished up the supplement. Should submit within a few days. You?

Oh, I applied ED.

You can’t just get a “concentration” in Wharton, you would need to do a dual degree. Which, because your current home school is CAS, means you need to apply and get into Wharton first.
