Dual Degrees Program

Hello CCers!

I am applying to UPenn (obviously!) and I was wondering about putting that I wanted to apply to the Cognitive and Computer Science (AI) program. I also put as my second choice the School of engineering. Now I haven't had much experience with this topics aside from reading a few articles on AI. The field of AI deeply fascinates me and I am taking Psych and CS classes right now and I love them. I want to apply to this program because I want to explore AI in college.

My question is, when applying to this program, will the admission officers read my app in terms of my qualifications to this specific program just like they would see someone applying to a humanities major in CAS different from someone applying to SEAS? I was doing some reading and the website says that you (can) apply as an accepted student, so I thought maybe that question focuses more on the applicants interests/goals in UPenn.

Sorry if I am overthinking this but I just wanted to know if selecting that option will put in me a disadvantage compared to those applcants who probably have more experience than me on this subject.

Thanks for the help!
