Okay so basically I need help. I’m going to be a senior this year and have been putting off this problem for a while. Last summer I signed up to take dual enrollment classes at the community college. The day before I was supposed to begin I was admitted into a residential treatment facility for a serious health issue. I was in the hospital for two months with little to no contact with the outside world. I had asked my mom to drop the classes for me but she forgot to. And therefore I have been stuck with 2 withdrawal fail grades on my college (dual enrollment) transcript. I’m trying to file an appeal with the college to get them removed but I’m scared I won’t be able to. If I’m unable to is there any way I can just not report these grades to the college? Like do you have to submit your dual enrollment transcripts? I don’t care if I don’t get credit for the other classes I did take. I just don’t want the failing grades.
Talk it over with your guidance counselor - they should be willing to attach a note to your application explaining the circumstances.
You need to go through the appeals process with the community college. Make sure you follow their policies and procedures exactly as you file for appeal. Get some kind of documentation from the treatment facility that indicates you did not have the ability to communicate with the outside world during your stay. Obviously, withdrawing from the cc was not at the top of your mom’s priority list when you were admitted, and I would think there would be room for bending the rules in a case like this.
If the appeal fails, then you go to your guidance counselor and get their help in attaching a note to your transcript that explains the situation.
The most important thing is your health. Make sure that is top priority. College is important, but don’t let this process suck the life out of you. Keep focused on whatever meds/therapies etc. that you have been prescribed.
@powercropper thank you!
