okay so here is my dilemmaaa... i have a 3.5 GPA at junior college... i'm transferring fall 09.

i'm a double major.. communications& theatre.

i really want to attend UCI- theatre program; however, they do not have a communications program. WELL. Cal state Fullerton has an IRVINE campus that does have a communications program. does anyone know if i can DUAL enroll? and double major as well? and if so, how would i apply/enroll/all the fancy stuff? andddd what would the costs be... i'm instate too.

yea, cal state fullerton has a good theatre program too; i do not wnat to live in fullerton.. i grew up there.. didn't like it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Yeah would have apply and accepted to both schools. You would have to pay full fee for each school . I don't think you will be able to units since certain amount of units must be done at each Unvi. Seems like like dumb idea you would have to drive back and forth from each campus. Many of you classes will overlap, seems like big waste of time. Find a school that has both.

i wouldn't mind the drive really.. i found that UCSD and Chapman have both majors offered but 1.) UCSD seems to far and 2.) Chapman is a private institution and i really don't feel like paying that much for undergrad. and as a double major, i probably won't get out within the normal 2 years... i'm looking into 3 years.... so i could probably somehow manage my schedule. i don't work and i tend to pack my classes... every smeester i've had 18+ units.

I doubt that you will be able to do this. As the other poster mentioned, each university has a requirement as to the number of units that you can earn before they will give you a degree. It is usually 120 semester units or 190 (I think) quarter units. If you enroll in two schools you will need to complete the graduation requirements at BOTH schools and you'll essentially be earning two separate Bachelor's degrees at the same time.

Just because the CSU Fullterton campus is in Irvine does not mean that is is associated in any way with UC Irvine. I am sure that Irvine has a major or minor in a communications-related field, why don't you look into that?

well, yea i know that UCI and CSUF's Irvine campus have nothing in relation with each other. UCI has NOTHING of communications, the closest thing is literary journalism.. not what i'm looking for. as a double major, wouldn't i be earning 2 bachelor's anyways? one school or not?

You will have to take 120 units (or whatever it is) at UCI and 120 units as CSUF. You probably won't be able to transfer any of them over to the other school because they don't allow for dual enrollement. If you were to double major at one school you would only have to meet the requirements at one school. You could easily graduate in 4 years. Getting 2 bachelors at two differnt schools is basically impossible to do in 4 or even 5 years. Colleges are set up to allow students to double major pretty easily. They are not set up (and are even opposed) to you recieveing another bachelors degree at another school.

Actually, now that I think about it you should probably check and make sure that UCI and CSUF will grant second bachelor's degrees. You may have to go through a special process or they may not grant them at all.

Your GPA is good and there are other UCs that have communications and theatre. Why not them?

could you please recommend me some? the only other one i considered was UCSD. i know UCLA is top notch, but sadly, my GPA is way too low.... seeing that only 4% get admitted for theatre and 13% for communications.

Davis has a Theater and Dance major and a Communications major. Cal has Rhetoric and Mass Communications and Theater. San Diego has Communications and Theater. Santa Barbara has Communications and Theater. UCLA, as you mentioned, has both. I didn't check Merced because, you know, it's Merced.

I feel your pain with the majors. Theater and Communications are hard to get into on their own- together is pretty difficult.
