Dual Enrollment Question

I am taking Anatomy and Engineering Physics at a university (not community college) this summer as a rising senior in high school. I was curious though, how would a B or a C in one of these classes look on my college application? Would it actually hurt me (admissions wise) if I didn't get an A in these classes? Or does it matter?

It probably depends on where you go, but I would think that admissions officers would take it as you challenged yourself, which would look good. Same with AP classes, admisssions people at a Harvard tour said that they’d rather see a B in an AP class than an A in the regular class. (probably not like all APs and ALL B’s, but you get the point)

i am just worried that it might actually be detrimental because an adcom might see a C in a college class as evidence that a student may not be able to handle the work…I have a 4.3 weighted gpa 4.0 unweighted in high school with a full IB schedule, so hopefully that will offset any suspicion of me not being able to handle rigorous course work.

It depends on the school. For example, University of California counts a transferable college course as an honors course for the purpose of including the grade in your GPA (+1 if the grade was C or higher, up to a maximum of 8 semesters worth). But other schools’ admissions may do it differently. And it may be impossible to know exactly what effect it has at schools that use holistic admissions procedures.
