Hello, I am a florida resident and I was wondering what my chances are as I am ready to apply to my schools. Ill keep it nice and short. Also, btw I want to major in aerospace, aeronautical engineering.

Ec's: (heres where I am strong)

JRROTC (army) cadet

Recreational Center Basketball team member

Academic honor roll 10th grade, 11th, 12th

Schools I want to apply to:
- University of Florida- LEGACY
- USAFA (air force academy)
- USNA (naval academy)
- Purdue University
- Penn State University
- Boston University
- UC- Irvine, San diego, davis
- UM-Ann Arbor

bump....................

Okay - well your eagle scout membership is usually considered a hook. Your scores are a little low for Ann Arbor and BU - also, you shoud definitely take some science related SAT IIs just to accentuate your interests. It's really not a double degree though (at least what I think) - I think it's just a double major.

Most of your question can be answered on http://www.review.com/ (Princeton Review's site) where you can check their average scores for the kids they accept, and such.

regarding the Air Force Academy and Naval Academy -- are you a senior this year? most prospective students get their paperwork together for application starting in Junior year. If you are seriously interested, you need to start working on these app right now!!!!!

for the academies, you look pretty competitive. Your scores might be a little low, but otherwise you have what they are looking for. Get your Mitchell in CAP and also consider ROTC if you decide to apply for schools other than the academy. ROTC has some great scholarships!

Admissions to public schools (UMich, Penn State & the UCs) are a very numbers driven process and your numbers are really low for these schools. You are going to have an uphill battle getting into these schools whose first preference goes to their in-state residents.

Is money going to be an issue? If yes, then applying to public universities as an out of state student is not a financially feasible choice because the cost of attendance for out of state students is between 30 & 40k with little financial aid coming your way.

Regarding Boston U. They are pretty straight forward when they talk about financial aid at their school and you may not get the $$ that you need because the best financial aid packages go to the top of the applicant pool:

**Your academic record is an important factor in deterniming your eligibility for Boston University scholarships and need-based grants. Key indicators such as high school GPA, rank in class, and standardized test scores are considered with the strength of your academic program and extracurricular activities.

High school GPA of 3.6
High school rank in the top 8%
SAT I composite score of 1327
ACT score of 29
**

If your credentials place you at or above this profile, your chances of receiving Boston University scholarships or grants are likely to be excellent or very good, particularly if you have calculated need.*** If your credentials place you below this level, your chances of receiving University grants and scholarships, or of having your financial need fully met with these awards, are reduced.***
