@austinmshauri Not a soft rejection. The VAST majority of students admitted as a freshman are not going to get a merit scholarship. UF is generally between 1-3 on lists for the best dollar value for your education. More than half of students graduate with no debt because of the low tuition costs. Many HS/AA students were admitted as freshmen.
@SmartMaaaaan At the transfer level the two most important things are the college classes you’ve taken and the grades earned in them. Major counts a great deal.
let me tell you I called and was told that i wasn’t offered admissions as a freshman therfore they transferred my application to the transfer department. the downside to this is that i must meet certain prerequisites that i do have but don’t have the GPA for, So I’m screwed! I spoke to the business department and they told me that I needed a 3.8 gap in the prerequisites to be competitive. Im waiting now on FSU,got into UCF. Good luck to you all
@jamie26 - business is VERY strict on requirements. Other colleges are more lenient. If you want to be at UF then you could like at the business like majors CALS or CLAS have to offer. If you truly just want business then looking at other schools is your best option.
@Melissa96 Last night i went back to my coalition application status and now its telling me the same thing but in other words. I was thinking in switching to economics instead. How long does it take to get a response as a transfer applicant if I switch to a CLAS major? Can you explain a bit on how the transfer process is? DO they look at the application now and see if i qualify of for the major and then offer me to go in as a freshman if I don’t have the requirements or will my application simply be denied?
This is the new status update:
Thank you for submitting an application for admission to the University of Florida. Since you are receiving your AA degree or 60 credits in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your high school performance, admissions essay, college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information.
Your application has received a full review at the freshman level and we appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate your application for admission at the transfer level. In the meantime, please check the information below to ensure that all application materials have been received by our office. If you have sent information to us recently, please allow time for processing.
We will post your decision here as soon as it is available, so please continue to check your application status for updates.
@jamie26 - once all of your college transcripts are received, CLAS would have a decision for you in about 2 weeks. CLAS would look at your application, see how your grades are overall, how they are in any prerequsite courses that you have actually taken and then make a decision.
You application already has had a full freshman review, if we could have admitted you through that avenue then we already would have on Feb 10th.
thanks Melissa96.If I were to get admitted as a transfer by when do I have to choose to accept? Im still waiting on others schools by april 1st, therefore I would like to have an opportunity to decide. AS UF is my 1st choice, having to choose a different major than intended, it would be tempting to go to a school that would actually accept me with my intended major.
@jamie26 - Transfer students don’t have those kind of deadlines. You either sign up for Preview - if you are coming - or not. You can completely wait until you hear from other schools.
Asking for a relative - if an applicant who will have an AA at high school graduation is admitted as a transfer student (instead of as a freshman) will he still be able to use the Benaquisto Scholarship (formerly Florida Incentive Scholarship) since fall 2017 is his first time in college?
My nephew found out that he was admitted as a transfer student today. When he was not admitted as a freshman on February 10th, he changed his major from business to one in which he had the right prerequisites as a transfer student applicant. I am thankful he was given the opportunity to do that because it made all the difference.
