Dual Enrollment?

So I’m planning on TAG-ing to UC Davis Fall of 2017, majoring in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. I’ve only been at my current community college for spring term, and I’m not going to be able to get the classes I need to transfer here. I can commute to another community college, but would only be able to do so a few days a week. Does anyone know if I’m allowed to be enrolled in two CCs at once? Or would that mess up my TAG? If absolutely necessary I can switch completely to the second community college, but not until Spring term of 2016.

I believe you can go to multiple CCs, since I remember people on here doing it. I think @fullload did, but I’m not sure if he TAGed or not.

I’d call UCD on Monday and clarify just to be sure.

Yeah that’s probably my best bet. I don’t want anything jeopardizing it. My current community college counselors are no help. They didn’t even know what the TAG was.

Yeah… CC counselors can be hit or miss, good for you for researching and checking on your own!

Thank you!

Sure thing.

Actually, the more I think about it, I have one more suggestion. Try to keep sequences of classes (i.e calc 1 &2, or chem A/b) at the same CC. I there might be a problem with splitting up sequences. I believe @lindyk8 knows more about it than I, so I will defer to her.

That’s why I wanted to find out before I got too far into it. I haven’t started any of the Chem Calc of Phys that I need to transfer. My college (VVC) hardly offers beginning chem so I’m looking at switching to Pasadena City College before I start.

Transportation is an issue though, I’m only able to get down to PCC a few days a week in the fall, so I would need it for just this term before I can switch completely in the spring, if that makes sense.

I totally understand! I just wanted to warn you so you weren’t caught off guard/penalized for taking them at different schools

Yes, you can. My friend dual enrolled at a CC an hour away because the class he needed wasn’t available at ours.

Did she tag?

Me? He tagged to uci but got into usc and goes there.

Ah okay. Thank you. I think I’ll cal UC Davis Monday just to check.

I took a bunch of GE classes at a CC in another state and I TAGged to UCR no problem. If I had not taken those classes I could have had guaranteed admission to UCSD though. Attending 2 schools disqualifies SD county CC students from U-Link. Yours sounds like an awesome major. I’m gonna be majoring in Chemical Biology.

Oh man that sucks! UCR is a great school though, I live by it. I emailed a TAG rep for my community college asking. I might call the school directly on Monday just to be sure. I have a hard time trusting counselors lol.

You can attend multiple colleges and still TAG. U-link with UCSD is a different program. You do want to be careful about taking classes that are sequenced at different schools. If you break up the sequence at different schools, then you may not receive transfer credit for any of the sequence. But other than that, it doesn’t matter. In the course of 1 year, I took classes at 3 different CCCs and I tagged UCI, and was accepted.

Okay so taking, for example, English at one CC and doing all of my science courses at another at the same time would be okay?

Yes, you can do both. Keep the english at the same CCC if possible, as they are, in essence, a sequence, and that will just all around avoid any potential (albeit minor) problem. You mentioned science, not sure which ones you mean, but you should also do this with any sequence courses (Chem, ochem, physics), do them at the same CCC, whichever one you choose. The only exception would be economics and possibly Calc.

Any other courses, go at it.
