So I'm not sure this is true, but I was told that dual enrollment credits can affect your financial aid package because you won't be a true freshman when you enroll. Can anyone give me some insight as to how this works? Yes, I know APs would be the way to go, but my school doesn't offer them. Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to what books I can get that will provide the curriculum on the AP exams so that I can study independently that would be really helpful. Thanks

Depends where you’re applying.

I’ve been doing dual enrollment since junior, and when I apply to colleges I’ll still be considered a freshman. I think as long as you’re still enrolled in high school, you’ll be considered a true freshman.

^Depends on where you’re applying and how you apply.
At UF, one can apply as an FTIC (first time in college) student or a transfer if one has the required amount of credits.

UF is a beeyotch with transfers though, or so I’ve heard.

I’m a DE student and we have a direct transfer thingy with UCF… I’m planning on just applying there. Such a better option then just worrying myself sick over the rigorous, scary admissions processes everyone else is doing. I’m whimpy.

If you apply FTIC to UF, you aren’t a transfer, but you still get all the credit from DE.
