My school offers a combined dual major in ee and ce which I am considering. I applied as and am currently listed as an EE major, because I felt that CE was too narrow and I didn't want to work strictly with computers. If I continue on this path with just the BSEE, I can minor in about two subjects (I'm thinking CS as one of them, programming skills always help, and physics for a more in depth understanding of electricity/magnetism). However with the dual EECE degree, I will have no room whatsoever ever for electives/minors. Is there any significant advantage a CE has over an EE degree? I feel that the dual degree will qualify me for more jobs because of the computer specialty in addition to the EE degree, but I will be very restricted and not have a minor or anything. If EE and CE are not too different, I would love to be able to minor in courses I find interesting. That's not to say I don't find CE interesting, I just feel that it's sort of redundant when I'm going to get an EE degree.

I don’t think there is a point in double majoring because they are so similar. I would just do the minor in cs. Maybe you should compare how many classes you take as a cs minor against how many you would take as a ce major.

you might also want to consider switching to ce, just specializing in whatever area of ee it is that you are interested in, and minoring in physics. since, as a ce major you have choice of either focusing more on ee or cs.
