Dual program at Colby

Hi!

i have some questions to you guys!

first off, i am a legit korean student studying in private high school right now. Though I am happy to have Colby as an option, i am having tough dilemma. I have always wanted to major in some sort of engineering (mechanical, aerospace and maybe general), but Colby does not have engineering department at all. I found out that Colby offers dual program with Dartmouth that takes 5 years for two degrees.

there are several problems here.
1. I have to go back to korea for 24 months and serve for army. so... 7 years as a college student???
2. I have not seen or heard the existance any koreans in colby.... at all
3. tuition is crazy. and for 5 years!!??!
4. dual program is not guarenteed

I would love to attend LAS and Ivy league school. However, as you can see, there are so many obstacles.

Right now, i have UC San Diego, Purdue(aerospace), UIUC(engineering) and Colby as options(still waiting for michigan). What should i do? If i do not get into michigan, i think i would go to UCSD, but it is hard to give up Colby...

Please give me some advice!

I can’t help you there. Is there some sort of education exception where you could serve after attending school?

There are most definitely Koreans here at Colby (both those who live in Korea and Korean Americans). I have had several classes with and know some of these students.

3 + 4. Can’t help you here either. Both things are true.

I would try making a pro/con list about the various schools you are considering. You could list both academic (specifically engineering) and social aspects of each school that you like or dislike and go from there.
