"Dude!" Factor Colleges

In order of prestige, which 10 schools in the country are at the top? i.e. which are the schools with the biggest "dude!" factor?

example:
"Where do you go to school?"
"Harvard"
"Dude!!!"

List the schools you think are the Top 10 in national recognition and prestige. Do not list smaller LACs that may be among the best schools nationwide, but that no one has ever heard of, stick to the major universities.

Georgetown

i personally wouldnt rank the schools that way, but i think those are the ones in that order that impress people

I think Stanford is even higher in the West.

what about Hopkins, how does that not strach the top 10 when people who go bio or premed often pick that over many ivies even when they have the choice

Re Hopkins admits who have the choice: # 28 in the Revealed Preference Survey

Yes, but many people haven't heard of it.

Cornell
Columbia
Harvard
MIT
Princeton
Stanford
Yale

Why am I the only one to have included Caltech?

Swarthmore? Amherst? Are those toothpaste brands? Insurance companies?

I knew one of those little suckers was a toothpaste college.

These lists are so generic, and boring.... Does it REALLY MATTER?????

As far as being applauded or disgraced for my college, I like to refer to the lyrics of one of my favorite band's--which portrays my attitude about the college prestige game:

"I understand about indecision
But I don't care if I get behind
People livin' in competition
All I want is to have my peace of mind.

Now you're climbin' to the top of the company ladder
Hope it doesn't take too long
Can'tcha you see there'll come a day when it won't matter
Come a day when you'll be gone"

--Boston

"Come a day when you'll be gone"

What does this mean? They we will all be dead someday, so why bother about anything?
