Due Date Questions, Please help!

When a college says that their supplemental forms (for the common app) are due on Jan. 1, does that mean that it must be in their hands/in their files on Jan. 1 or just postmarked by then?

Also, it is just your part (the stuff that students are responsible for) that must be there (or postmarked) by the deadline?

Recently at my school, one girl's transcript did not arrive until well after the deadline at her first-choice school. She was later rejected. Did her late transcript have anything to do with her denial?

Do colleges realize that it is not your fault if your school doesn't get the stuff it is responsible for out on time?

Hi

Your application needs to be postmarked by that date - but only what you (the student) are responsible for. Ideally your school should submit your transcript, etc. by this date but the college will not penalise you for your schools error.

:)

Postmarked.
