I was thinking that I would bring a duffle bag to the audition with all my music, clothes, headshots, boombox, etc. Is that a good idea? What do most people bring? And Is there a place to put it where people won't steal the bag?

Yes, assume that not every audition program has a locker room where you can change and/oro where you can store your stuff. Make sure to bring some kind of bag or backpack that can hold bottles of water, some snacks (maybe protein bars, etc.), your dance shoes and clothing and so on.

I didn't hear last year of anyone having his or her stuff stolen, but then again, I was with my D most of the time, so I was the one holding the bag, if you will excuse the expression! If you have someone accompanying you to the auditions, that person can hold whatever clothing you are not using (your dress clothes when you are dancing, for instance).

If you don't have a companion, you will be fine nonetheless. I know of several kids who went through the process solo and they just left there stuff where everyone else did and no one said anything about losing anything.

I was wondering that as well! I'm doing all this solo too. So you just leave it outside the door. Would it look awkward to bring it in with you?

You could bring it in with you, if it is not too much stuff... ie. two bags, a coat, a rolling suitcase, etc... ;) Also -- you most likely will make "friends" at the audition and/ or there will be students there helping to run the auditions. You could ask one of them to watch your bag when you go into the audition room. I would not suggest leaving personal belongings completely unattended.

Thanks for all your responses!
