I wonder if Jessa was ‘purposed’ (oops, I mean ‘coached’) to state in her interview that the victims were ‘fully clothed’…to make viewers draw the faulty conclusion that the girls were only touched over the clothing, when it’s unlikely that any victims were unclothed (I doubt sleeping in the buff is allowed).
“You’re forgetting that education = elitism in their world view”
And Megyn Kelly is uneducated?
I actually don’t believe she believes half the **** she says on TV. But it’s a good gig, so.
Well, Jim Bob said it was over clothes, and then he said it was under clothes. So if someone has more time than I do, I’d like these statements highlighted, clarified, and elaborated on!
You’re right – it’s the elite liberal media. I never thought there was anything wrong with being elite, but I guess that’s because I am.
Someone made a very good point above (sorry; don’t remember who) that the hypocrisy comes from the Duggars saying, “Leave us alone; we’ve dealt with it; this has nothing to do with anyone else, move along, folks” versus the Duggars saying that “LGBT people are evil, committers of incest and rape should be executed, abortion is evil, and all of this concerns all of us.” In other words, leave us alone, but we have every right to pass judgment on and butt into your life.
A long time - I’ve heard it for years.
This!!
Brilliant summary of why this situation is so galling!
I was not able to watch the interview yet - but “enjoyed” reading your comments this morning. Sounds like things went as expected - scripted and mind boggling in terms of the minimizing of the incidents.
This has nothing to do with anything, but 2 or Megyn’s kids names are Thatcher Bray and Yardley Evans (the third is Edward Yates). For some reason I am having visions of men’s cologne…
Baby names that sound like men’s cologne-there’s a thread for that!
Wonder if the “what would your name be now” site works in reverse? Those kids would probably be John Paul and maybe Niles Heath
I don’t know why that would be surprising, given how many young college women refuse to report serious sexual assaults and even rapes committed on college campuses by young men with whom they have no real relationships.
This is often rationalized as being understandable because they don’t want the young men expelled or jailed even though the offenses committed are much more serious than what has been alleged in the Duggar situation.
These young women seem to have no connection outside their family. No different circles of friends with whom they have social relationships developed in school or sports or whatever. Anything that would threaten to pull the family apart or pull them from their family sounds like it would be really frightening, like they would have nothing.
Catching some Fox before and after, they were thick with “liberal left” and “liberal media.” It’s a Moriarty ploy, ie, always someone or something else to blame, some villains to point to.
I haven’t watched that group of stations in over two years and it was scary. We could drown in irony and half-truths made to seem whole. Arguments won or lost isn’t the issue for me as much as the way spin sticks in people’s minds and snowballs, people who only want a piece of spin to cling to.
I don’t care if they are pretty. How ironic that, at the same time, many feel Caitlyn Jenner isn’t supposed to be. Yesterday, I found the video of the Duggar girls being dolled up for People’s “most beautiful” issue. More irony.
I read that Jill and her husband are planning to go back to Nepal with their baby to volunteer and do missionary work. I’m not a big fan of the missionary concept - but glad to see them leading their own lives away from the Duggar brood.
One thing that stood out for me in the interview last night was how often Jill and Jessa praised their parents and spoke of how wonderfully they have handled everything. Which is pretty astounding as their inaction allowed Josh to molest his sisters repeatedly. If they had taken more decisive action early on, the 5-year-old would have been spared.
@lookingforward: What’s a “Moriarity ploy”? Who’s Moriarity?
Moriarty was the nemesis of Sherlock Holmes. The “Napoleon of crime.” In a great old obscure movie (not from a Conan Doyle tale,) an older SH blames everything in the news on Moriarty- a bridge fell, a crime was committed, maybe even a heat wave. Just as arch conservatives blame it all on liberals.
Ah! Thank you!
Yup, it’s mirror image of those crying…it was on Faux news…!!!
I guess that means it’s a net zero.
dietz yes that is also correct. Debate the underlying story not the source. There is an issue behind each story. Base your argument on that issue.
Media is a business the single objective which is to get viewers/listeners/readers/clicks in order to have higher advertising rates. Certain media market to certain segments of society and provide the slant that they calculate brings them the most clicks etc.
I’ve never thought of incest or child molestation as being a liberal or conservative issue. As soon as the phrase, “the liberal backlash against the Duggers” was spoken, the whole thing was over for me. At that point it’s all PR.
The children who were victims have to come first. Since that doesn’t appear to be the case, the whole lot of them can go rot.
