Well, I don't see this thread up yet so I decided to make it. Post here if you have applied to Duke University as a transfer for Fall 2008. Anyone know when we can expect to hear from Duke? All I have recieved is verification materials.

Hey yeah I'm applying as a transfer too. I spoke to an admissions officer the other day about something to do with my app and she said that they like to let applicants know by mid-may. Hope that helps!

i hadn't heard from Duke until I called them and they told me my application was complete. They said they would only notify people if their materials were missing and decisions would be up between 5/15 and 5/19

yea...they will not release the decisions untill MidMay... feeling a little bit nervous

Hmmmm, well I guess the wait is on. I applied last, waitlisted then rejected. I heard Duke is super tough with transfer admissions. Anyone know last year's transfer statistics?

they told me that approximately 40 spots only for around 700 applicants

but it seems that people here are not quite interested in Duke..

who would be? it's in the middle of nowhere, and all everybody does there is drink and watch basketball games (fine by me, basketball is my life, but duke basketball is one of the top three most hated teams in the nation). duke sucks. the only thing that's good is academics, and you can find an education like that at at least 10 other schools.

I have intense animosity towards Duke because of Greg Paulus. Played soccer with the kids for years, went to alllllllll of his birthday parties at Discovery Zone, and the kid denies my facebook request, replying "who are you?" WHO AM I GREG? THE KID THAT GOT YOU SOME SICK BIRTHDAY PRESENTS AND TAUGHT YOU HOW TO RUN GAME WHEN YOU WERE 10 YEARS OLD IN THE BALL CRAWL.

Seems like there is some hate for Duke. Don't know about the rest of you, but Duke has a very lovely campus and, for me anyway, they have a great fencing team. Sure, Durham is crap, I'm not gonna lie, but I am a fan of the blue devils. Also, the school spirit is amazing.

duke is a very unique school. people either love it or hate it. i personally chose not to apply because of location

can anyone tell me what's bad about Durham? i've never been there

its mostly that there just isn't a whole lot going on off of duke's campus. its also not the safest place in the world

I spoke to an admissions officer today and I was told that only 10 spots were available for over 700 applicants.

Take that for what it's worth

OMG!! that's so difficult!!

From what I have seen in this forum, the most popular schools are USC, Cornell, NYU, UPenn for people in this forum. So it is likely that there are still a big pool of people applying for Duke.

I just talked to an admission officer, who said that decisions will be finalized on 5/13 and sent out the following week.

Anyone here any other news yet?
