Duke 2015 ED applicants

Yeah, same here. Yikes!

I agree that getting deferred is almost worse than getting rejected. The only pro is that well, at least you didn’t get rejected. The cons? Having to wait (MUCH longer than 1.5 months like we are doing for ED). The fact that the percent who end up getting accepted after being deferred is in the single digits. Knowledge that the long wait will probably amount to a rejection letter yet clinging at least a little bit on to that 5-10% acceptance rate, knowing that 5 to 10 out of 100 deferees eventually get in.
I hope we find out when decisions are coming out ASAP. If they come out on the 10th that’s a week and a half. If they come out on the 15 that’s 2 weeks and 1 day. Huge difference of 120 hours.

I really hope that the Duke admissions committee reads our posts and sees that we are trule desperate for our decisions and they move the decision date to an earlier time, such as the 9th…fingers crossed lol

Maybe they will move it to tomorrow! :P

Seriously though, I hope it comes out earlier than the 15th, Im dying to know. And I agree, a deferral would be worse than a rejection. If Duke doesnt think I am a good fit for them that is fine, I just want to know so I can move on!

Dang dude Duke has sent me 3 promo booklets within the past week. I’m totally expecting a deferral right now (or should I say, delayed rejection) and I’m trying to focus on other schools, but seeing the booklets come in just tears everything apart LOL

I gotta be the only person here who doesn’t want them to come out sooner, haha! But seriously, I have finals that week. If I’m lucky enough and get in I’m gonna want to celebrate all weekend instead of studying, and if I don’t I’ll be too depressed.

SOOOooo Duke, please give everyone else their decision early. and hold mine until the 15th :)

I wonder if any admissions officer does read college confidential…I wonder what they think of it.

^I’d actually be surprised if there weren’t at least one or two who do. Maybe not as religiously as we do, but enough to get the gist of the forum.

We. Are. CRAZY. Nervous.

…And just crazy.

They should just post the decisions as they go through them…in a rolling fashion almost =P

I would be frantically checking online all day every day, haha. I almost don’t care which day decisions are released, I just want to know so I can look forward to it! Not knowing is what’s killing me.

14 more days!!!

So apparently, about 2 days before we get our decisions, we will get a special login account. So if anyone gets an email with their account soon let me know cause that means only two more days!!!

So I was checking the status of my 1st quarter grades (sent nov 16) and the website says they haven’t received it yet, so I asked a girl at my school who was having similar problems. She told me the duke undergrad office contacted her guidance counselor and asked it to fax the grades over. I asked my counselor if he ever got an email, and he said no. I know they won’t accept students w/o seeing these grades, so if they haven’t received them yet, and have asked for them, does that mean I didn’t get in/got deferred?

Once the decisions get posted, everyone please put them up on here!!
(not on a different thread…lol)

i disagree krogstad! I think we should make an official decisions thread so that people in future years dont have to go through this whole hopeful thread to see the decisions!

I agree with coIIege. Someone should be the designated new thread maker when the time comes. I know last year’s thread was very helpful to me, and I’m sure next year’s applicants will appreciate a separate thread as well.

To my knowledge Duke hasn’t even requested my first quarter grades from my counselor. Does that mean I didn’t get in…

I will designate myself as the official poster of the “OFFICIAL DUKE CLASS OF 2015 ED RESULTS”…unless i dont get in…then someone else can do it =P

I dont think so massgirl…if they dont request it how can they penalize you that heavily? you should have gotten an email about 2 weeks ago saying that your application was completed.

sure, i guess that makes sense. is there a day (after ED decisions come out) when all the ED accpeted people come to campus and meet each other, etc, learn more about how great duke is, etc, etc…?
