YES! I feel like I need to focus on school so then my RD schools will have a solid Midyear report to look at, but on the same token I am DYING with anticipation =P

That was a great video! Duke is so beautiful!!! I am excited to watch the basketball game
11 more days!!!

Just out of curiosity, does Duke send “likely” letters?

I think they do, but only for regular decisions.

I believe they only send likely letters to select URM students in the RD pool. And perhaps athletes…And merit scholarship finalists might get notified slightly before the rest of the applicant pool.

duke over butler…sweetness. who here checks CC like every time they are at the computer to watch this thread?

Me!!!

I think it might be slightly unhealthy. Hehe.

Me too…my sanity is slowly slipping away. Just think about it though…decisions could come out THIS week!

10 days max.

I agree with whoever mentioned this before, we should probably get an email tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest (in my opinion).

Did everyone read the article in the Chronicle about the 14% increase in applications? They mention a promotional poster they sent out. Yeah, that poster is the first thing I see when I wake up everyday.

Good news is that mathematically, a 14% increase in applicants really isn’t that bad. If they accept the same number of applicants as last year, and they had 12% acceptance rate last year, they should be at 10.5 this year. (overall). For ED, it’s a bit worse. If they had a 30% acceptance rate last year and want to accept the same amount of people, they would accept 26% of us this year.

I also read somewhere, not sure if it was in the Chronicle article or not, that Guttentag said he felt comfortable admitting more ED applicants if they were qualified. We can hope!

Hgblue, I read that same thing. I’m not sure where it was, though.

That’s good. Another development is that it’s probably going to be slightly easier to get in if you’re from NC. Duke has a quota of like 16% of its incoming class for NC every year. However, in recent years, because so many have applied from NC the acceptance rate in state and out of state has been very similar. However this year, more applicants are coming from out of state (texas, NY, and Cali in specific, iirc) - while presumably the same amount as usual is applying from NC - making it slightly easier to get in from NC (if my assumptions are correct), at least relative to applying from out of state and compared to recent years.

I’m from Nebraska…I think that is one of my hooks really haha, I can’t imagine more than 10 people are applying Early Decision in the whole state!

Here is the link about possibly accepting more ED students: [Early Decision Applications Up 14 Percent at Duke](http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2010/11/early_admit.html)

Maximum of 10 more days! We are getting so close!!!

Thanks for the link! Even though we are unsure of the date, do we know it will be 6:00 PM?

^Yes, I believe it is always at 6 PM.

I really hope they admit more ED this year.
