<p>What does it mean if a Duke admissions officer called your guidance counselor for first semester grades just yesterday? Guidance counselor says they were sent a long time ago - maybe still under consideration? I was deferred during ED....</p>

<p>I think it means they either randomly verify grades or they didn't receive your midyear. If they're asking though they must be considering you.</p>
<p>^ Not necessarily. They have to have that midyear report, whether they're going to admit you or not. It's a required document. I am 99.9% sure that this is just a routine gathering of missing stuff.</p>

<p>My friend, who would never be considered for admissions, was asked to submit the midyear. (They ask repeatedly, and if you don't send it, your application is withdrawn.)</p>
<p>they probably have the system check for incomplete apps as a routine procedure and follow up with people who didn't withdraw officially but haven't submitted everything.</p>
