Duke has some amazing premed opportunities, and its reputation will more than make up for some tough classes with a couple C’s. I got into top a top 10 MD program and some top 25 MDPhD programs even with 3C’s on my transcript (granted 2 of those were freshman year). Additionally, although I don’t know if this is true, the Duke alumni network really helps throughout a career. Over 25% of my class will get an MD, so that means a lot of Dukies in the field. I don’t know much about Baylor, however. I’m sure it is a good program too.

If this is true, it is a very high percentage – 1 out of 4.
It is rumored most top privates are pre-professional (premed/prelaw/pre-investment-bankers/pre-consulting) factories.

Does he mean his undergraduate class? Roughly 1600 undergrads. 356 applied to medical school.

If there’s an 80% admissions rate, then about 18% (1 in 6) go on to become medical students.

Lol dont go to the better school go to the cheaper school. Theres no substitute for hard work. Im in baylors honors college and roughly 70% of us get into med school if we stick with it.
@nuclearcowboy7, the OP posted this question 5 years ago. He has since graduated from whatever school he chose. No one else had posted for over 4 years.
