Hey,

I am not sure about the ED statistics about big top notch athletic schools such as Duke, but when Duke says it has a 32% acceptance rate, does that include athletes? I usually think that All DI athletes sign a letter of intent like months before applying and they are automatically in. I think that is the most significant hook, but I would assume in the admissions statistics, other smaller hooks such as legacy, URMs, do matter.

I'm sure it does... only the biggest athletes (think the incoming bball recruiting class) and the most promising recruits sign letters of intent in advance, there are others who'll be in conversations with the coach and will play if they're accepted... but sort of the academic / athletic type athletes who won't be getting much money, if any, in scholarships.

But what does it matter one way or the other?

I thought that at most D1 schools, sans the Ivy league, all varsity athletes get full scholarships? My sis at a mid-major D1 school didn't play much but still got a full scholarship for all of her years.
