True...but it's not just Friday night. It's Thurs-Sat for a lot, and Tuesday/Wednesday-Sat for some. Drinking doesn't bother me at all, but I was definitely surprised by the fact that Duke students go out so often.

Hmm, in my experience most Duke students go out Thursday night, party on campus Friday night, and are pretty quiet Saturday night because they're doing homework on Sunday. In comparison, I think every night is pub night in Wales.

True, the difference in other parts of the world is interest. In Sydney Wednesday seems to be a big going out night and you'll find people at pubs most days of the week.

Thursday: A lot of people party.. but 845 Orgo and Math 32 problem sets due the next day keep me in for the night..we did have a pool on the patio one Thursday night which was awesome!

Friday: Um.. party for sure.. frats have parties every Friday night.
A lot of people get their 'elixir' at these parties.

Saturday: Party a little more.. but I find Friday to be a slightly more extreme night, probably because everyone who parties on Saturday DEFINITELY partied on Friday too...

Sunday: LOL! Homework time.. campus is quiet this day. I never start on any of my homework till Sunday and everything works out fine.

I feel like campus has been just incredibly quiet this semester in general...to be honest. People are definitely still going out, but there's not that much being advertised/noticeably going on on West, with the exception of last Friday. I've heard a lot of groups are actually on social probation?

Being a Science department slave is no excuse! I'm an Engineering and Navy slave and I was able to break my shackles for a semester!

(oh, and being a "party-hardy" class isn't unnecessarily the same thing as being the coolest class ever, see you have to have the last two digits of your class year be divisible by 9)

Haha.. I know.. not exactly sure how cool '11 is yet.. I just know that we are going to make sure that there are parties on West during the weekend!

Most of the parties this weekend were private. It stinks for freshmen (although there were a ton of freshmen at some of the off campus parties). I know lots of frats had mixers/date functions/private parties this weekend.

As a freshman you will say that you are going to party hard, but honestly, huge section parties kind of stink once you are no longer a freshman.

By junior year I could care less about the west campus party scenes -- the section parties are filled with freshmen, and they're a lot of fun as sophomores too (at least in the beginning of the year) because all your friends are the guys throwing the parties so you know everyone, but that novelty wears off fast. I'm a senior now, I live off campus, and I only go to campus to go to class and to go to the library or to meetings whenever needed... and this weekend was by far one of the most fun weekends I've had since being back, solely because everything was off campus and there were a lot of mixers and date functions this wknd which are always a really good time. '11 kids go to house parties, go to Devine's... do cool things off campus, they're a blast... and this wknd the frats are going to start throwing all day Saturday parties at their houses.

Weekend wasn't that shabby (still slow).Thurs was weak but then again I have 8.30 class so I didn't care. Fri was weak (but pregaming hard helped). Saturday was mayhem at first (uprooting goal post), wtf next (girl gets hit by rotating goalpost), and ridiculous to cap off (off campus frat until the entire place was completely dry...seriously, NO can/bottle/cup had anything left in it when I left).

I try to stay clear of Devines etc after some talks about kids getting citations there. Better place to game than those.

From being here for six weeks.. I'll say that if you are a night owl like me and want to do something on a weekend night.. one of the only things to do on campus is go to house parties/frat parties/dorm parties/bars.. there are probably upperclassmen quietly laughing at the freshmen who get so excited by the frat parties, haha.. you get the picture here! There are probably small cliques of people who do other things besides getting trashed.. but that's a small percentage.
