Duke BME question

Hi, I've read before on this forum that you can switch into Duke's BME program from Arts and Sciences relatively easily. Can someone provide more detail on this? Do I just need to take the freshman course for engineering and then switch into it? Or can I talk to my counselor and get switched in before the 2008-2009 year even starts? Thanks in advance!

You can only switch between Pratt and Trinity after you finish your freshman year. If I were you, I'd take the recommended BME curriculum (so EGR 53L, a math course, a chemistry course, and writing 20 or a humanities first semester) freshman year. Do well in your classes though, because it's not a guaranteed transfer from Trinity to Pratt (it's a lot easier to switch out of the engineering school than into it).

Go here for more info: Transfer to/from Pratt School of Engineering

Good luck!

If you really do want to switch, you probably will want to talk to your advisor/dean pretty soon after school begins and also talk to Connie Simmons so if you do switch, you won't be behind. Agree with Noodles about taking those courses not just to stay on track but decide if you're still interested. Good luck.

Get in contact with the admissions office (Alice Dalbow particularly) as soon as possible. Although I applied and was accepted to Trinity, she helped transfer my acceptance from there to Pratt BME just a few weeks ago. Good luck.
