@MBH2017 - FWIW - just like the replies you received for your Princeton EA thread, you have similar chances at Duke. Great GPA, but non-stellar SAT / ACT, and ok ECs.
bump, got deferred from Princeton. How do I compare to those who got in ED if that is in any way comparable? Thanks, congrats to those who got in ED and good luck to everyone applying regular
I had almost the exact stats and I was accepted ED. A 32 is a fine score, just really make sure your essays and ECs shine through and really show who you are. Numbers and stats are not everything! Just make sure you be yourself and if you really want to go to Duke make sure they know it!
Just that most of the time applicants to schools such as Duke are all so well rounded and have near the same test scores and academic rigor, decisions most of the time being made based upon smaller factors that separate one applicant from the next
Ours is a Princeton/Duke family, so I’ll try to give you a few insights.
First, everyone is not equally qualified. Second, the well roundedness you mention is not a particularly desirable attribute.
Looking at your stats, I’d say:
GPA: fine for either school
Test scores: a little weak for Princeton, hopefully ok for Duke
AP scores: unhelpful
Rank: low for either school, but not fatal
ECs: good, but P and D see some of the best
Overall chances: Princeton unlikely, Duke possible
