p.s. are there any good skiing spots up there? i really dont know what the n.c. climate is at all..

bump......

you have a very small chance of getting into Duke. Good luck.

what makes my chances small??

try to bring the GPA up a bit (unweighted that is), Duke likes to see lots of A's.

Maybe try to achieve something really impressive with your extracurriculars
National Youth Leadership Forum/Conference is a scam -- I wouldn't do it if I were you.

^There are quite a few kids in the Duke 2011 Facebook group who have done those programs, for what it's worth.

yah-it doesnt look like im gonna be able to afford it anyway...
but overall-would u guys say id get in?deffered? or just rejected-thanks for your time in advance, trying to get a few people's opinions so i can improove my app the last two months of school

Write remarkable essays. I actually got a note from my admissions officer complementing one of my essays.

At this point, you should focus on oustanding extracurricular involvement. Do something that really stands out. This could be a big community service project or perhaps scientific research.

Also, don't hesitate to send supplementary materials as long as they're quality (articles, abstracts, short papers, extra rects, music recordings, etc.).

Ask teachers that really like you to write you recs. Good luck.

CJ,

I would attend American Legion Boy's State. It's a great leadership program and your local American Legion Post pays for everything.

Also you don't know if you can't afford it until you get your financial aid package. I had a friend who paid less to go to Duke than U of Illinois (his state school)

im not really worried about neccessarily afforiding it right now-im just wondering on whether i can get in first..
i just cant afford the leadership meetings

2 many Bs for all but UF
