My son got the same e mail you have referenced. It seemed pretty generic and not indicative of a better chance of being accepted. I wouldn’t use that letter as an indication that you may be accepted. But good luck to all of you hard working seniors.

You’re complaining about a B!? I got a 70 in calc this semester. Lowest grade I’ve ever gotten. I’m so sad :(

BTW, just wanted to confirm with anyone applying regular decision to Duke that they will accept the February ACT. The admissions office has not responded to any of my son’s e mails nor have they acknowledged the fact that he sent in some additional info for his application.

^Yes. He has to make sure that he lists Duke down to be a school that will be receiving the scores.

“The latest date for additional testing for Regular Decision is January 26 (SAT and Subject Tests) and February 9 (ACT).”

Hey, what do you guys all think my chances for admission are with a 650 on the math portion of the SAT? I’m kind of freaking out because I don’t feel all that confident in my SAT’s (2210, CR 760 M 650 W 800 11 essay) and EC’s, which I won’t bother listing, just know they’re not, like, spectacular or national-level, anything like that.

I can make no judgements as to chances, but I would say those scores (esp the writing) look better for Trinity than for Pratt. You didn’t mention which you are applying to (“to which you are applying”! ) Totally just my thoughts. I really have no idea either way, but good luck! :)

Oh, right! Yeah I applied Trinity, I am staying as far away from mathematics (except perhaps some statistics courses, I do enjoy statistics…) as possible once in college. Thank you for the input, though! :)

I think I’ve already been rejected haha My online checklist won’t update my mid-year report nor FAFSA /cry

That doesn’t mean you were rejected!

Hopefully not but all of my other schools have received my FAFSA and mid-year reports so…I’ll still have hope doe :D

My S just got a neutral sounding email from Duke Engage with the title of “Civic Engagement at Duke University” that encouraged him to participate in a civic engagement program at Duke should he get accepted. Any insights or is this just a form letter sent to everyone?

GMD

I got it too. I’m pretty positive they sent it to everyone

Same here. :D

I got the Civic Engagement email too, I got excited until I realized that it was just another form email. Meh.

I also got the Civic Engagement email. I don’t think any of these emails they keep sending us mean anything; if they wanted to indicate that someone was going to be accepted, they would just send a likely letter, not beat around the bush with cryptic emails.

Are many of you getting Alumni interview Requests?
Feeling a bit overlooked at almost mid Feb and no interview request from Stanford,Yale,Columbia or Duke. Have determined that Stanford doesn’t have much of a network for int in the South except perhaps for the Atlanta area. My D has had an EA interview for Princeton (deferred) and what she feels were really engaging and successful interviews for Harvard and Georgetown. For the last two she had to drive 50 miles. With all the comments about how much the interview means, I still feel like it is an important part of the experience. We would probably drive all the way to Atlanta to fulfill one.

I finally called yesterday about D’s interview and it turns out her name was never forwarded to the folks in charge of the interviews even though her app was in on time. We thought it was odd we hadn’t heard anything since se live in an area that should have a fair amount of alums. They are trying to get her one so hopefully we will hear shortly.

^are you in the US? i’m international, so no.

Not to seem completely dense, but can someone explain likely letters? I get that they’re sort of telling you ahead of time that you’re in, but do they send them to everybody who is going to be admitted? Should I worry if I don’t get one?

Dont worry at all. Likely letters are sent to a incredibly small amount of the applicant class who is accepted. The majority of accepted applicants do not receive a likely letter.
