Hi everybody! I was an ED applicant and was deferred so being wait-listed was not an option for me. I know it must be so difficult waiting to hear back but I would do anything to be in your place. I was just wondering how the waitlist works though, are you notified by email, phone call, or via the Duke student page? Also, do you know how long you have to accept or deny your place once you’ve been offered admission? Thank you, and best of luck to all of you!

@noosjuice then that’s probably bad news mate! guess we should stop dreaming about duke !
@matrixsurgeon this is what they will tell you! keep fingers crossed !

I emailed my regional admissions right before the deadline. Apparently, right before the May 1st Commitment date several Trinity College waitlisted students were accepted (someone from my school got admitted too). However, the admissions officer also said that as of May 1st it appeared that few if any spots would be offered off the Pratt Engineering waitlist because many people who were admitted had start accepting their spots. She had also said the movement into Trinity would limited.

Has anyone heard anything? Losing hope…

If a wailisted applicant hasnt heard back from the AO by start of June, doesnt that mean youre basically out?

Is there any hope for us? Or are they done taking people off the waitlist?

When I called my AO she said that it is extremely unlikely that they will accepting anyone. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy were we born in the one of the most competitive years ever :(

@minion17 @Allan23 @everyoneelse

I hate to say this but as of right now, forget about Duke. Focus on the school that you are currently committed to. Just hoping for the extremely unlikely will simple make you more miserable and sad. I know that forgetting Duke will be hard but at this point there is nothing else to do but to focus your attention on the school that actually accepted you and is super excited to receive come this fall!!

I have done the above because in the end its whats best for me. I am not going to ruin this summer by over-worrying or simply breaking down over the turn of events. As cliche as it might sound, Duke is simply a college where its what we do that matters and not where. We are all among the top students in the country to even be considered at a great school like Duke and the schools that we are going to are likely also amazing schools (or even better).

I don’t mean this message as anything negative or bitter. Its just the way the world works, unfortunately. I have had Duke in my sights for the last 5+ years and I can say confidently that I will continue on the path that I had planned out at another great school that I am super excited to attend. And, Duke will always be there for grad school or whatever if you intend on that stuff.

@Matrixsurgeon you are completely right. At this point its more about how well you do in each individual school rather than which school you attend. Why did you set your sight on Duke? What attracted you to it?

@Matrixsurgeon it’s a harsh reality but I completely agree. You wanted Duke that badly too???Sucks doesnt it…
Good luck in the program that choose you :)

@Allan23
Yep, Duke was like top 2-3 on my list since like freshmen year for many reasons. Thanks! I will definitely need the luck at the school I will be attending as its probably harder there than Duke for premeds haha. But I am beyond excited. Good luck to your current school as well!!

Check your PM

Decisions are out. rejected :/

My son got rejection too but he was not too disappointed

Its over guys (atleast for the ones that recieved that rejection email). This thread has been very useful and I thank everyone. You guys will all do great at your respective schools and hopefully I do well at mine as well.

Rejected here too, but couldn’t care less.

The fact that you were all wait-listed means that Duke’s admissions committee considered you to be incredibly well qualified. I am absolutely certain that you will all be very successful at college and in life. Good luck and Godspeed!

Are there others here who haven’t heard anything at all? Neither rejection nor acceptance? :s

Have you heard anything yet? My daughter also still seems to be on the waitlist. Any others?

@trsy12 - I wrote to both my regional admissions officer and the general admissions office about this, but they haven’t replied to me :(

@SaoirseBefri–thanks! Please let me know if you hear anything useful.
