Duke Class of 2018 RD Discussion

Seeing as there is no discussion page for us regular decision candidates, I thought I would make one for us. By the way, the official release date is the 27th at 6PM!! I heard this from an employee today. So excited yet so nervous..

Ivy Day? Oh great…

I am not getting my hopes up. Application numbers are up, seats left in the RD round are down; expect an ivy-esque admit rate, especially if you are applying to Pratt.

haha lucky I’m applying to Trinity; still I would give myself a solid 2% chance of getting in - seeing as I was deferred by Chapel Hill EA

I coulda sworn that decisions were going to be released the 28th… but whatever, the 27th is a whole day sooner!!!

Why are they doing it so late? I have like 5 decisions on that day.

Can anyone confirm the 27 at 6:00? Everything I’ve read says the 28.

Yes! I was on the phone with an admissions officer and she explicitly told me March 27th at 6:00

Wow, that day is gonna be one hell of a day, for the better or the worse. I will be finding out the majority of my RD decisions on a single day within a 2-3 hour frame. All I need though is to get into at least one of the schools on that date and I would be super excited!

I feel you @matrixsurgeon

I’m so nervous. I was deferred ED so my odds of getting in are around 5% (according to their letter), but I really want to go to Duke. Anyone else deferred ED?

@picklechicken37

I was also deferred ED. Fingers crossed!!

does anyone have any proof it is on the 27th? like an email? thank you!

Oh, that’s terrifying! I’m not getting my hopes up, especially since Duke is a reach for me, but I can’t help but cross my fingers a bit.

Duke is releasing decisions on the 27th at 6 PM EST. I received this info via email.

^^^^ the e-mail I got says they’re being released at 7 EST

Mine says 7 as well.

I have gotten no email. Should I be worried? Could it be a sign?

tropicalslushies, did you check your spam/junk folder? I know I’m probably stating the obvious but I personally don’t think you should be worried  - I would assume they’d want every student to be able to check their decision

I got the email. Decisions come out March 27th at 7pm. Boy is that day gonna be a LONG LONG day. All Ivy Leagues release their decisions on that day a couple of hours earlier.

Good luck to everyone! The Duke email says:

I want to let you know that Regular Decision applicants to Duke University (and Early Decision applicants whose admission decisions were deferred to Regular Decision) may view their admissions decisions online beginning 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014. Financial Aid decisions will also be available online for those whose applications were complete.

Since we deliver our decision letters to applicants, we expect only the applicant will be checking his or her decision online. When you decide to check your decision online, we strongly encourage you to do so in the privacy of your own residence, not at school. We believe your decision is a private matter, and for many reasons we have found it is best for applicants to be away from friends and classmates when they check their decisions.

You can view your admission decision letter upon logging in to your application checklist. If you previously activated your account, you will log in here: https://applicants.siss.duke.edu.

If you have not yet activated your application checklist, please check your email - including your “spam” and junk mail folders - for a message with the subject: Important Information about Your Duke Application sent from siss-no-reply@duke.edu. This email will contain an applicant-specific URL you can use to activate your account.

If you are unable to locate the original email, visit idms.oit.duke.edu/applicants-self-barn-resend/ and request a new activation email.

If you do not have internet access on Thursday, we can provide your admissions decision by telephone beginning Friday, March 28, 2014.

If you have any technical questions, please direct them to the Duke Service Desk at (919) 684-2200 or email help@oit.duke.edu. You can direct all other questions to the Admissions Office staff at (919) 684-3214 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Remember, though, that we will not provide your admissions decision by telephone until Friday, March 28, 2014.

My staff joins me in thanking you for applying to Duke!

Dean of Undergraduate Admissions
