Duke Class of 2019 ED Discussion

so i applied ED, had my interview, but still have not sent my first quarter grades… they are the worst grades I’ve had to date, and was considering just not sending them at all because it would seriously weaken my already-weak application… and the best possible outcome of that scenario would be that i would get deferred because my app was incomplete… i am thinking i am going to request my first quarter grades to be sent tomorrow, because i should just own up to it…any thoughts you guys??

I think you should send them since it is a requirement- my guess would be you may just be rejected if u don’t- at least if u send them you followed directions and will prob have a good chance of getting deffered- and don’t sweat it if your grades aren’t the best- as long as you show you are a hard worker your fine

I live in a remote area and did not get an interview nor an email saying I don’t get an interview.

For those who applird for financial aid, did your CSS profile show up in the applicant ID page?

CSS Profiles are uploaded on whatever day they decide I was told. So if they choose to upload them on Dec 1, that’s when the exclamation mark will go away. When I called a few weeks ago, the upload date was going to be Nov 17. Must have changed.

@swimpretty2‌: Duke does not e-mail (or otherwise advise) those who cannot be interviewed (due to remote location or several other reasons). However, please remember two key facts:

 1. The interview is generally a comparatively unimportant element of one’s full application dossier.
 2. Since you were not invited to interview, your are permitted – but not required – to submit an additional letter of recommendation.

@Rawhide96 @bleeddatblue70 I contacted the fiancial officed and they said the CSSs will be uploaded somewhere between late November and early December.

Thanks, guys.

Woohoo! Just received a call and my interview is tomorrow! That was unexpected.

@belizeme thought the interview evaluation submission deadline was yesterday, the 23rd? Unless they extended it.

@hagzzz I had heard that too which is why I was surprised to get the call.

@Belizeme They called rather than emailed? Huh. Makes me wonder if I could’ve possibly missed a call from the admissions office for an interview. :/

Is everyone else’s CSS profiles uploaded now?

Calls never come from the Undergraduate Admissions; rather, they are initiated by the local Duke alumnus who has been assigned to conduct that specific interview. That alum will follow-up (telephone, voice mail, e-mail) in an attempt to schedule the applicant’s interview. With this explained, 23 November was this year’s ED AAAC reporting deadline, although Duke is likely to accept alumni/interviewer input for few days thereafter.

@bleeddatblue70‌ yup mine is

@bleeddatblue70 So is mine :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow applicants!

Happy Thanksgiving! We should really get this thread going. I’m so anxious for Devember 15! Anyone else?
