They posted a video of them sending out the letters today on their Instagram
Envelope just has name and address. Top left envelope has Duke admissions return address. Pretty nondescript . I donât have my sonâs log in so I canât see application status. It could be nothing but timing is surprising.
do international students also receive these letters
@bsudds hard to tell from the video when they sent them. It could be possible if they sent them days ago that admitted students would receive them today. In past cycles, only admitted students received a letter via US mail and it is a large packet, not just an envelope. If the applicant is denied or waitlisted there is no letter sent, just the portal notification.
The post mark date is 3/24. Maybe itâs a âlikely letterâ, but itâs pretty late.
Article out from Duke Today with statistics on class of 2021 https://today.duke.edu/2017/03/duke-offers-admission-more-2300-high-school-seniors 7.3% acceptance rate, record 34,400 total applications (ED and RD)
From the video, it was Priority Mail. Large envelope. Probably 9 x 12 inches.
Yikes, only 58 from all deferred got in.
That article just shattered my heart lol
I guess itâs not an acceptance. My envelope is large but flat and came snail mail. We will find out at 7pm tonight.
The number of deferred accepted went up from 49 last year to 58 this year. However, the number of RD acceptances went down from 2501 last year to 2255 this year!
@MissAnthropy itâs tough. For the class of 2020 the RD admit rate was 9%. I think that itâs particularly low for 2021 because they admitted 50% ED. In past cycles they admitted less than half the class in ED so that they could admit more than half from the RD round. That probably put downward pressure on the admit % for RD along with the record number of applications. For comparison, total # of applications for 2020 was 32,111 and for 2021 itâs 34,400.
Hereâs another article. This time itâs Duke Chronicle http://www.dukechronicle.com/article/2017/03/duke-accepts-7-3-percent-of-regular-decision-applicants
Has anyone else received a package?
Received letter yesterday, was a snail mail version of Latino student likely letter e-mailed last week.
They already have the decisions. I donât know why they donât just release them now.
I never thought that Duke would be my last hope.Anyway good luck to everyone tonight
861 were admitted EA. 2255 admitted RD + 58 admitted from Deferred students. So that is 3174 admits / 34400 apps for overall admit rate of 9.2% for 2021.
24.5% admit rate for EA
7.3% admit rate for RD
9.2% for combined EA + RD
What is the âWorklistâ on the top right of the application status portal?
@smm - that has been there all the time.
