applied to trinity
female
34 act

graduating with 16 ap classes (4s/5s)
103.6 weighted gpa (idk unweighted and school doesn’t calculate it)

I honestly have no clue, the more time goes by the less I think I’ll get in…My interview was fantastic like 11/10, my interviewer said he thought I would be extremely competitive and Duke would be lucky to have me, but idk. My school isn’t really established, so I’m not sure if that will hurt me. I’m super nervous but fingers crossed!!
Well… I probably have no chance after reading these stats lol.
Last year someone got in with low test scores (27 on ACT) don’t count yourself out. It’s about so much more than stats
Does Duke use the highest score from either the ACT or SAT or they use both?
@theboyoverthere I’m sure you have a good chance. It’s true that grades and scores are important to get you past the initial reviews, but your essays, teacher recs, interview (if you had one) and lots of other factors are heavily considered. No one should count themselves out
I believe that they superscore SAT but not ACT but if you sent both I would assume that they would either look at both or the one that’s the higher percentile since SAT and ACT aren’t directly comparable
trinity for econ
asian (other) male
1520 sat, 800 math 2, 740 us history
8/280 rank, 4.6/5.0 weighted, NJ public (pretty competitive but not haven’t had a kid go to duke in like 10 years)
2 AP classes and tests junior year: both 5s; taking 5 APs senior year but 6 tests
no major awards just national merit commended scholar and some honor societies
EC’s:
varsity basketball(three year starter, two year cocaptain, all conference), organized fundraiser raising $15,000 over 3 years, Paid intern at consulting firm in summer, Chapter VP DECA (placed in region and state), Chapter CoPres Peer Leadership, Chapter VP JSA, FBLA member (placed nationally), club basketball for three years, basketball camp counselor for two summers
My essays were definitely strong, however in my optional essay i accidentally put a hyphen in the wrong phrase if they care. I did well in my interview too.
Feeling super nervous especially since I had all As for my first quarter senior year but then had a C+ in AP lit which is gonna seem like I’m weak or slacking in that area. Hopefully they don’t defer me to see if my english grade improves and my ECs and essays pull me in instead. Good luck to everyone!
Does anyone see “Mid Year Report” on their checklist?
Did anyone send in only one subject test?
nope @theboyoverthere
For Early Decision applicants, does anyone know how many students typically get deferred to the regular pool?
seeing all these stats makes me super nervous :’)

sorry if there’s more than necessary it was from a chanceme
Also does anyone know how much the quarter grades matter?
I did lmao my math 2 was tragic but I sent in a 790 on lit…in hindsight I wish I wouldn’t have sent either it probably looked dumb to send in just one
I don’t think they do if they are pretty much consistent with previous grades
Duke’s admission process is super holistic which is one of the great things about them. So try not to freak out about one bad grade or test score, you are so much more than a number! also to the person who put a hyphen in the wrong place in their essay, you are over thinking this WAY too much, take a deep breath. We are all more than qualified, unfortunately they cant take us all, you will find your happiness at duke or another school! good luck to all as we are off to the races next week!
also if i am only a national commended scholar am I at a complete disadvantage?
I only used act score, which was a 34 btw and by the time I graduate I will have take 16 AP classes and Im in10% of class in an extremely competitive school
