Just turned in my app about an hour ago!!! Now I’m just hoping for good news!

I submitted my common application without the writing supplement before the priority deadline for duke. I had just found out that it was due today, so I submitted it in a hurry. 1. Will this still qualify me for an interview? 2. I accidentally added and extra letter to my name that was not supposed to be there when I was signing the common app confirmation. Is that going to come off as careless? Sorry if my questions are dumb, I am just very very worried right now.

Does anyone know around what time decisions come out for RD? And also how soon you should expect to be contacted for an interview? (I applied a few weeks back.)
There’s no timeline for being contacted for an interview. The interviewers are all volunteers and we get assigned as many students as we think we have time for. If there’s not enough volunteers in your area, you might not hear for a while and you might not hear about an interview at all. None of that reflects on the strength of your application; it truly is just a supply/demand problem.
For what it’s worth, I (and many of my friends) were admitted without interviews back then 
on the common app there are two “optional” essays, but are they really optional
@lilpotter As Duke is hyper-competitive and one ideally wants the best chance of admission, the questions are not all that optional, unless you truly cannot answer them. I believe the question pertaining to cultural background applies to near all applicants; however, if you truly don’t have an interesting story to tell regarding your sexual or gender orientation, I wouldn’t answer the second one. Plenty of people who didn’t answer that one and frankly none of the optional questions at all have been admitted. It’s truly your choice. If you think you could put together a good response, go for it.

Hey, I am just finishing up my essays, but I am struggling with the diversity essay. Does anyone have any ideas that could get me started?
@jsmith93 the prompt says you can talk about “a perspective you bring or experiences you’ve had to help us understand you.” even if you don’t think you bring diversity to Duke in the context of race, religion, income, or whatever, you can pretty much just talk about your perspectives and values. at least that’s what i did. i talked about how the community i grew up in has affected my outlook on life and some of my qualities/values.

@Ploince relatively strong profile, average chances IMO.
Is it okay that my transcripts and recommendation letters will be sent tomorrow? I forgot to ask my counselor before break ugh.
Also, I submitted my application for priority interview. Haven’t heard anything back yet, has any of you guys heard back?
