<p>Are the deadlines for postmark only? Because I forgot the give my GC the School report Supplement, and need to give it to him 1/2. help!</p>
<p>Yeah I'm pretty sure it's postmark. Even if it's a day or two late I'm sure they aren't gonna flip out and reject you as long as you inform them ahead of time by phone or email.</p>
<p>Duke has extended its deadline.</p>
<p>A note about the application deadline: We know that students applying in late December are concerned about our receiving all parts of the application on time. We are therefore extending our Regular Decision deadline for receipt of the application to Friday, January 12. Please make sure that we have received all parts of your application, including your teacher and counselor recommendations, by the end of the day on January 12. Students applying online must also have submitted all parts, including our Supplement A, online by the end of the day on January 12. If first semester grades are not available by January 12, we will accept them after that date.</p>

<p>so what this means is that for online applications, the whole application doesn't have to be submitted until January 12, 10 days after the original deadline?</p>
<p>i called the admissions office and they told me that that's the final day they will take applications and materials, not the postmark deadline. They didn't tell me anything about the online app, I asked about the optional artistic material...so just give them a call to make sure</p>

<p>Well, I doubt they will come out and say it, but yes, I think so. Duke had a much lower number of ED applicants this year and that probably will translate into the RD round.</p>

<p>January 12th...wow. Is it just me or does anyone think that they might have had a drop in apps which made them extend the deadline and attract more people?</p>
<p>I think this is the third or fourth year in a row that Duke has extended its deadline. Yeah, RD apps have likely dropped and it may be in response to that, but Duke should just officially, permanently, move the application deadline away from the chaos of the holidays.</p>
<p>A lot of schools regularly extend their deadlines for one reason or another, most of the time for stragglers. I remember several colleges gave me an extra 2 weeks to a month last year for turning in the apps because I either started them online and didn't bother finishing or they thought I would be interested in applying. So I don't think you can read too much into this year's extension.</p>
