Duke Decision Date

Thanks Stupefy.

Hopefully it’ll come out on the 25th then… the last Thursday in March.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I know some other colleges are coming out on that day too, so it seems probably that Duke will too.

I’m super on-edge, as I’m sure some of you are too…I hope we get in!

Hopefully so, but Johns Hopkins also released on the 26th last year but is waiting until the 29th - 1st this year…

Sorry to hijack guys, but i have a general question about release dates…do all colleges (esp the ivies) send out an email a few days before? do they tell you when they will release? or do you have to continue logging in to their websites to check the status of your app? thanks for the clarification!

The Ivies release on April 1st. They each have their own website for you to check your status.

Most colleges email you before informing you of the decision date.

Hey guys, one of my friends received an email a few days ago about the Duke RD notification date. The email from Duke admissions says they will notify us on the 29th, however none of the other people I know who applied to Duke got this email. Has anyone here gotten the email, or seen it, or heard of it? :)

Hmm i haven’t gotten this email.

^I hope they’re wrong :frowning: thats late

i haven’t gotten that email either

The Duke website says that admission decisions will come out in early April. See [Duke University Admissions: Regular & Early Decision](http://admissions.duke.edu/jump/applying/apply_RD-ED.html)

I’m going to guess that your friend was BS’ing you. It seems unlikely that they’d choose to release on a Monday; if I were an admissions officer I’d be working my [expletive] off next week to make sure decisions are finished and released by Friday so I could finally have a stress-free weekend. Next Thursday or Friday seem like the most probable dates, in my opinion. This is all speculation though.

@ FlaPops

Every admissions website says that, but in reality most schools release decisions before the end of March. In the past, Duke has sent out decisions in the final week of March.

Yeah I know it seemed unlikely to me that there could be an email sent out about the Duke decision date and no discussion of it here. I’m hoping for Thursday or Friday.

Ughh it still seems so far awaaay!

I’m superr ready :)

Friday seems likely. Drop decisions and close office to avoid angry student backlash till Monday.

Angry Student Backlash? Hahahah :)

My friend who applied to Duke got accepted like weeks ago. Does that mean that she got a Likely Letter?

If your friend got ‘accepted’, it’s BS. A likely letter is not an offer of admission per se, and I don’t see how one can mix up the two but it’s definitely possible that your friend had an LL.

^Well, unless his/her friend murdered someone/blew up a building/plagiarized, a likely letter is 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999% an acceptance. So yay for sperry’s friend!

That’s not my point plumdum229. Yes, I do know what a likely letter is, but it’s not a very smart thing to do (esp. for someone with an LL from Duke) to claim acceptance when there are hordes of anxious applicants here speculating about decision dates.
