PLEASE CHANCE ME: I WILL CHANCE BACK

THANKS TO PROSPECTIVEDOC for providing the structure to this outline

The subject tests, GPA, and EC’s all look STELLAR.

I would say you have a very good shot at every single one of the schools you listed.

please chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1357093-please-chance-some-lacs.html</a></p>

You can never really tell with Duke but you definitely have a solid shot. Good Luck

Very solid shot. Make sure to send a recording of your music playing along with reporting your achievements.

But I’m not applying for the music program, should I still send a recording? And am I allowed to?

Look like a lock to me. No interest in Ivy League?

I still think Duke is better than almost all the ivy league schools (except HYP). But Duke is more balanced and has a great biology/med program.

You can send a supplement along with your application. The recording would go to the music department where it is evaluated. If your playing is highly received that could help your application significantly.

Full disclosure: I’m a fellow rising senior, going primarily by older friends college acceptances. That being said…

You don’t need anyone to tell you that your GPA, SAT score, and extracurricular’s aren’t all top notch. To add on to that, you also seem to have a strong ‘interest’ in math and science which definitely will make a difference.

Duke University is ALWAYS a reach for anyone, especially since all the super achievers of the South will be applying there, so it’s a different candidate pool than most Northeastern colleges. I would consider JHU the close second, in terms of difficulty, but honestly, I know people with lower GPAs who have gotten into JHU, so I wouldn’t be too concerned. Maybe a slight reach.

UVA, Northwestern, and especially Vanderbilt I would characterize as target/match schools, with Vanderbilt being a slight safety. Your GPA and test scores are in Vandy’s 75th percentile plus.

Please chance back!

Also, since your in Pennsylvania I would apply to UPenn. I know that you said your not interested in most Ivies, but UPenn has stellar departments in all the sciences and they definitely lean towards accepting high-achieving Pennsylvanian students (by no means a match, but I think you may have a slight edge.)

@verily, you’re joking. They are not matches for anyone because of their unpredictable admissions. Vanderbilt is not a safety let alone a match!!! All reaches, like they are for everyone who applys. The op has a great chance but not by any means are they matches/safeties

I think you’re have a really close shot !!! You have amazing scores ! Good luck!

@verilytrue,
I’m sorry but Vanderbilt, UVa, and Northwestern are definitely not targets. I know these are reaches along with UNC. It’d be amazing if I were accepted to any of them.
@rorochi,
Thank you so much.

COULD ANYONE ADD TO CORTANA431’s comment about adding the supplemental recording?

There you go, bottom of the page!

I think you have a great chance. You seem like a very, very well-rounded student, and your SAT, GPA, and extra curricular’s are very high up there.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1357834-desperate-i-need-replies-asap.html</a></p>

Chance me back?

You obviously have good stats and ECs and such and would be an exceptional candidate to Duke. But unlike most people have been saying, I’d disagree that you are almost certainly into Duke. While I think you are a deserving applicant, there are many, many qualified applicants applying with better scores and ECs than you that get flat out rejected from these top schools. Check out the ED and RD threads for the Class of 2016. Kids with perfect scores and phenomenal activities did not get in, but people with more modest stats got accepted. As I’m sure you know, admissions is a crapshoot. While I can easily see you getting in, I can see the opposite quite the same. You have evidently done well up to this point. Just continue to succeed in school, continue with ECs, and write killer essays and you’ll have a good shot. Also, definitely submit an arts supplement if it would enhance your resume, even if you do not intend to pursue a career in the arts. And also, no way Vanderbilt is a safety. Admission to Vanderbilt has become extremely selective as of late, and RD it is only 13 or 14 percent or something. Vandy, JHU, Northwestern, UVA, and Duke are all pretty much peer institutions, with Duke probably being the hardest to get into. I would assume, however, that you will get into one of those.

I think some of your reaches aren’t extreme reaches at all. You have good chances for a lot of them. :)

Thank you! Could you elaborate on which ones you think aren’t really reaches?
