yes. they will all be released at the same time. i’ve read through the threads of past years and no one really ever receives their decision earlier or later than the announced time

same from recent caltech release – at the exact same time for everyone

Duke accepted three students from our high school the year my son was accepted. It does seem to show that they review each applicant individually.

In the end, does the time of the email matter? I am international and I got the email at 5:04.

Nope!

Hey I read somewhere that Duke’s decision email says whether you got in or not in the subject line. Is this true or will we need to enter to portal to find out?
Thanks!

that is not true lol you have to enter the portal at 7pm on Friday to find out

where did u read that and what exactly did u read?

Received Email requested financial aid info from Duke 2 days before ED decisions
Does it mean anything?? The email asked for my moms W2 forms, and I know they have to review all financial aid applications, but to be receiving this email 2 days before decisions has me thinking…Not sure. It wasn’t an automated email either since the woman responded to me once I submitted it. What do we think?

i got something similar. it was from a financial aid counselor. i am not sure if this could mean good news, but a lot of people are saying that they do financial aid and admissions completely separate.

They do. Their offices and counselors are unrelated for domestics students. That is how they get the “need-blind” title.

so this doesnt mean anything and theres a good chance I was rejected?

so does this mean that the financial aid office creates an estimate for every single applicant who applied for aid? i just feel like that would be useless if they were an automatic no after the first read through

During an info session, they said that they might need “more financial documents” and would request them if necessary in order to give everyone the best financial aid package possible. I wouldn’t worry too much about what this means (whether good or bad!)

That’s a good point. Most of the time I would think the finaid package is a calculation and the finaid counselors are mainly concerned with getting the necessary materials for verification and finalizing packages.

right…it would be useless to calculate thousands of packages in my opinion. especially this close to decisions

thats what i am saying. there has to be some type of communication… it just does not make sense to make thousands of offers especially 2 days before decision day if you are gonna get flat out rejected. just speculation tho

Hi there. This, of course, doesn’t guarantee anything, but wanted to share that my daughter applied to Duke (RD, not ED) a few years ago. The financial office contacted us for more information as well, and we were told that it has nothing to do with admissions bc their offices are separate. She was admitted to the university and we were over the moon - she’s now a sophomore there. Good luck to all! Sending warm wishes your way - what a challenging year it’s been.

I will say that not getting the communication isn’t an inherently bad thing. I got an IDOC request a month ago and submitted my parents W2, tax returns, etc. I’d imagine you only get this communication if you didn’t already submit those documents and you applied for financial aid. regardless I think it’s harmful to speculate about what financial aid communications mean for an acceptance or rejection — if you read through the duke threads in past years, they did the same thing, and it ended in a lot of disappointed people getting rejected who thought they’d get in.
