Duke ED 2025

“the percentage of accepted students who applied with test scores will roughly equal the percentage of students who applied without”

the wording makes it sound like the acceptance rate of test optional will be roughly equal to the acceptance rate of those with test scores, not that it will be a 50/50 proportion of the incoming class. (also “roughly equal” could mean any margin)

yeah i’m guessing the same. crossing my fingers for the 10th but let’s be honest - decisions went up by around 20%, the deadline was extended by two weeks, it’d be a miracle if they could get that done in the span of less than four weeks

No way they get it done anytime before the 15th. I am not in HS, BUT i know people in the office and they are very stressed rn.

You guys are way too nervous over every detail of this. Just let it happen. They dont even look at 1st quarter grades, they only use that if deferred. Take a step back and live life.

I truly have no idea why he said the 50/50 thing. I mean, that would have to be said under the assumption that 50% of all applications didn’t have a test score (which isn’t true) AND that the applications without tests are of the same quality as those with the test (which is sweet but they had no way of knowing)

Obviously Duke has the kind of reputation where they could let in whoever they want and it won’t be questioned, but I’d be shocked if that statement still stands.

According to a friend who is an intern, they are having a hard time equating grades due to Covid, so the essay is becoming a deal breaker in a lot of cases.

wait sorry. by deal breaker, do you mean the essay will be a deciding factor? this would actually make me much happier because it scares me that pratt doesn’t usually weigh essays that strongly

i agree with the fact that essays will be much more important this year. im assuming they will use essays to separate applicants with similar grades, course rigor, etc. i just wish we knew the decision date, the anxiety is killing me.

Why would they want to use the quarter grades if it’s deferred, for those who are referred, don’t they need to submit the semester grades as they are moved to RD pool?

Given last semester (Junior 2nd semester going P/F or Cr/NC) my counselor said the 1st quarter or semester grades in Senior year will have a weight.

Mainly trinity.

They make decisions before many schools are able to submit grades. There isn’t enough continuity to weigh it heavily.

Thank u i really needed this im going psycho over nothing. Im gonna let fate decide my decision lmao

Since Cornell’s decisions are officially coming out on the 17th, I think Duke will be next Thursday. They had similar application deadlines.

hey guys i submitted my fasfa and css profile a little late and the financial checklist isn’t appearing on my portal? It just says if you didn’t receive an email, then they have enough info.

If they never requested documents from you, then you should be fine. It is weird that your fafsa and css profile don’t show up in the checklist though.

yeah I don’t even have the checklist on my portal:/ I hope that doesnt mean anything bad

Don’t worry. I’m sure that just means that they have everything they need to make a financial aid package for you.

I guess you have enough info then!
I think it’s weird that yours isn’t updated though because I filed my fafsa late november for the rd schools and it updated on 12/03

y’all are right. we’re going crazy and speculative but the truth is who knows? certainly not us. wherever we end up, whether it’s at duke or somewhere else, we will all be successful. for now, work on RD apps, watch some netflix, go on a run, keep up your grades, and we’ll wait this thing out.
