Hmmm…I don’t see why they wouldn’t have them all yet. If you send it again, maybe you should put a note in that says it is a 2nd submission since it was all sent in together on the 15th but the internet is saying it is missing. I’m sorry I’m not of more help. :/

Did anyone else submit an extra rec letter? Eg from a friend, family member etc? :)

I did, from my piano teacher of 13 years. It probably wasn’t that great, but it was handwritten and maybe they will appreciate another facet of my application, as piano was listed near the bottom of my 10 activities.

Hello all! I submitted a letter from a friend. I do Big Brothers Big Sisters (beneficiary, not benefactor) and we’ve known each other for 5 years now…he’s been my guiding light through the admissions process.

I applied ED for Duke, can’t wait to get the decision!!!

@Seahawks506 I had the same issue I FAXED my forms in on the 14th/15th and they weren’t logged in until the 18th/19th. If they STILL are not in, make sure to call the office–they should understand, especially if it was postmarked on time.

My little (5 y/o) sister wrote me an additional letter. Not kidding.

really? did she write it by herself? what was the jist? great sibling

Yes, in her own handwriting with my mom helping her with the spelling. She talked about how much I help her/read to her, etc. She said that I “really wants to go to your school [Duke].” She also said “She loves cats and Jon Scheyer.” If nothing else, the admissions people will get a laugh out of that. I’m not going to Duke because of basketball, and did not mention anything about said sport in my app, so I figured that it would be okay to let her write that. She is a great sister!

Bluehope, your sister sounds adorable! I think they’ll like her letter.

I submitted extra rec letters from the head of a summer engineering program I did at Rutgers and from a woman I’ve worked with at the NJ Foundation for the Blind. No personal ones, though.

By the way, my guidance counselor told me he sent in my first quarter grades about a week and half ago, but the checklist is showing that Duke still hasn’t received them. Is anyone else having issues with this or am I just being impatient?

Mine took forever to update too, but they finally showed up.

i applied duke ED for the class for 2016. DECISIONS ARE OUT IN 2 - 3 WEEKS, and i am starting to panic. aldjfojdofoj

may the best be granted admission. 8|

which also reminds me-- my school college counseling office faxed out my quarter grade reports. however, that was almost 2 weeks ago and applicants.siss.duke.edu says it still hasn’t processed anything. D:

I wouldn’t worry too much; I called about a week and half ago and the admissions office says that they’re backed up with paperwork, so it’ll take a little longer than expected for things to upload :)

do you guys know if duke looks at the whole SAT score, or if they focus more on the math and CR sections??

The CR and writing sections are weighted evenly. They take the average of those two sections and add it to math to get a score out of 1600.

I sent my first quarter grades about 2 weeks ago and my applicants.siss.duke.edu account says they haven’t gotten it either. I called and they told me to fax it to them through my school because that’s easier for them but will it affect my chances of getting in since they still haven’t gotten them?

I didn’t know that Duke did that with their SAT scores…I’m not entirely sure I believe that either…if it does, that really SUCKS. I got an 800 on reading, but only a 730 on Math and Writing…

RD Applicant here, but I do believe bluedog is correct. I spoke with an admissions officer who told me the same thing. (Avg of CR and W) + Math = Duke SAT Score

I applied ED and I’m so nervous! They said they’d send out an e-mail saying when we’ll be getting our admissions decisions, but does anyone have an idea about when? They said “by December 15th,” but it would be nice if it was earlier! :D

@bluedog, Do they also recalculate ACT scores?
