@njsdcisdjk Thank you so much! That makes me feel a lot better. I guess it just takes a while for Duke to update everything.
@cheerleader34 yeah, I gave my counselor the same form and saw that she submitted everything required on the common app. That’s why I was confused why Duke said they did not have it. But I guess it takes them a while to sort through everything.
@njsdcisdjk looks like we are in the same situation then. From what I understand, we will be compared with domestic applicants in our state/region if we do not apply for aid. If you apply for aid, then you would be at a disadvantage.
Does admissions consider or factor in an applicant’s socioeconomic background in terms of their opportunities or academic possibilities? I know they are need blind but for example would they do something along the lines of “Student X is low income so he/she might not have had the connections or access to resources that Student Y who has a household income of $130,000 does, which may make Z activity seem more respectable/impressive” ?
I’d think that the region an applicant comes from would be more important in finding resources/access to opportunities than would socioeconomic status. For example, someone in NYC has more resources than someone in rural Nebraska, regardless of income. That being said, socioeconomic status could play a part I.e. Someone from Harlem(lower income area) may not have the same opportunities as someone living on the Upper East Side (very high income area) of NYC. But idk for sure.
i submitted my css yesterday but on my duke account it says not completed and the deadline is today?? will it be okay since i submitted it yesterday???
@a1h313 I think they are just taking time putting the materials together. My account says a lot of my materials are missing but I have submitted them. My test scores are up this afternoon.
