I went to the console tab (because I’m a terrible, spineless person) and there was nothing highlighted. No words at all.
This might ease some people’s minds https://api.jquery.com/jquery.deferred/
I’m not a coder but I believe that it has nothing to do with admissions decision.
Hi everyone! Looks like I’m super late to the discussion but I also applied ED to Duke. My names Lauren and I’m from NJ, USA. Super anxious about seeing the decision but glad to see I’m not the only one. Best of luck to everyone!
mine says deferred
mine doesnt say anything …?
Guys, inspect element will not tell you your decision. Your decision will be retrieved from an external server when you open it on decision day. Please relax, your decisions will come soon enough.
Basically all the data is going to be stored on a server, and every time the page loads it calls the server to see whether it provides a result or not. However, the server isn’t going to accept the request until the day decisions are released, so whatever is currently on the page is just client-side code that’s shared across the portals of everyone who has an account.
Hi @lb0501 I’m Morgan and I’m from New Jersey too!! Best of luck, and maybe we’ll get accepted together and we can meet up soon. Sending you garden state love
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
YAWN. Guys, it means nothing. We go through this every year.
Oh. Well then, it must be true if it was on reddit. 8-|
No worries! I’m Caylen from PA and I just found this thread yesterday!
Deferred
I believe this is a code thing, as the moderator has said. I don’t think these are the results. The decisions won’t be made public until probably next week.
Yeah, I don’t think that the jquery.deferred thing means anything in terms of decision status, prob just a code thing.
Also, hi @mogs20201 , love to see some Jersey representation here
IK this is super stressful for everyone, like I’m definitely not the most chill regarding the decision date. But, I think to kind of stay positive, maybe we could all mention when/what made us realize Duke was our top choice?
More Jersey Representation, (a nervous mom - my son seems cool as a cucumber) for Pratt.
My son won’t work on any other application supplemental essays. He says he can’t write “why________” when Duke is his #1. It is so hard to back off and leave him with that decision.
Fingers crossed my anxiety is for nothing. Good luck to all the students on this thread!!
looking through the code of what seems like something from technosolutions … seeing things with jqeury.deferred… there are (newDefer) placed in about 10 places, it may be just calling function or writing new code or it could just be status… many things are hidden I do not know what it all means
@vm123456789, not sure what your saying, I don’t code. When you said status, do you mean it might be that if it says deferred that could be Duke ed decision status? @sanjanagupta1 did you check yours? (I feel like your getting in so wondering what urs said)
no not the inspect element. any site on the internet you can view the code for free (look up how to on your browser). I got the code and started reading it and found something with technosolutions. it was 4000+ lines of code and had confusing terms. it called the jquery.deferred function thing a lot except it would include resolved, rejected, promised, etc. and in parenthesis it said newDefer. Again, I do not know code so I have no idea about anything. I hope that everything stays hidden until decision day.
@flagirl888 Hahahaha I wish. I didn’t check mine, I tried but it didn’t work cause on my comp I don’t have a “control” button. Everyone’s seems to say “deferred” so I’m guessing it isn’t actually the real thing. 10 more days left…ahhh
Yes – jquery.Deferred is NOT your decision, it is an object in jquery/javascript. It’s just part of the source code of the website. Don’t worry about it
Closer actually. Colleges don’t typically release decisions on the weekend.
