So in the email, when it says “starting from Thursday at 7:00 pm,” does that mean that all decisions will be available to view from at that time, or will decisions begin to be released at that time? Thanks and good luck everyone!
All decisions are released simultaneously.
@4coins Why? Why?
My daughter received the email this morning. Thursday December 13th at 7 pm! Good luck to all ED applicants. As I have shared with my daughter- the application outcome does not define you. Embrace the decision and know that there is an ultimate plan for your life and educational career ahead.
FYI…my daughter applied ED last year and is currently a freshman a Duke. I had her brother’s school holiday concert to attend at 7 the night decisions were released and my daughter checked around 6:53 p.m. and the email was out.
Is anyone else’s .portal blank? There is nothing that shows up for my checklist. Only the financial aid checklist shows up
@vivivi yes
@vivivi it’s been like that for a week
Hey anxious ED applicants…
I was in your same exact place this time last year; I’m now writing this while I take a break studying for final exams at the gothic wonderland and academic/social/athletic haven that is Duke. I remember checking the thread for my year (2022) obsessively in the months and especially days leading up to decision day.
And, yes, in the end, it worked out for me-- like I said, I’m a proud blue devil now. That being said, ED decision day was absolute hell for me. My portal did not work until over an hour and a half after decisions were released. I was deferred.
An unfortunate word of warning: the Duke admissions portal is notoriously clonky. You might not get your decision right away.
Senior year sucks if you don’t get in ED. I’m just gonna flat out say it. It’s terrible Everyone on here reassuring each other that they are ‘bigger than a college decision’ is right, but let’s face it: getting in ED IS the best thing that could happen to you.
There are so many qualified people who do not make it to Duke. I truly believe that Duke looks for something distinct from other equivalent schools which I’ll call a Duke factor. You can be a downright genius with the best EC’s/hooks, but Duke selects for a class that will thrive at Duke.
Duke cares a lot that its applicants truly want to go to Duke, especially since a lot of Duke caliber kids will end up choosing Ivies (wrong choice!) over Duke. The good news is that applying ED is THE BEST way to show demonstrated interest. Even if you are deferred, the fact that you were an ED applicant will help you a lot when RD comes along.
Even though I hated my senior year, THE COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS TAUGHT ME SO MUCH! The two major takeaways are:
- Writing a ton of apps over winter break is great work ethic practice, and supplements can be fun.
- I ended up choosing Duke out of a few schools and I think I definitely came here for the right reasons in the end.
For those of you who are accepted, just know how lucky you are. You are about to be a part of something so special and we can’t wait to show you when you visit for blue devil days.
For those of you who are deferred, hang in there. You’re about to be on a tough grind for a few months but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
For those of you rejected, think of it as a blessing. I know, how?! This sounds cliche but I promise it is not: if Duke thought you would thrive here, they would have admitted you, but Duke just isn’t the right place for you. There are so many more institutions that would love to have you and you’ll find your fit somewhere else.
GOOD LUCK!
Not to be overly speculative, but does everyone’s decision letter have a part about if you decide to share your decision letter on social media and about opening your decision in private?
Yep
@curiositea: Yes. They are all the same.
Good luck to you guys! I can not wait until Thursday!
Well! It’s official everyone. We receive our admission decisions on Thursday, December 13.
I’m not sure if anyone has created a thread for results, but here is one just in case!
Good luck everyone! I hope to be a future Blue Devil!
I emailed the admissions office and they told me that siblings do indeed count as legacy for early decision.
anyone else soo excited/nervous for Thursday?
@colllegeisstress I’m so nervous I can’t focus on anything school related. how are you coping
Not nervous and not excited. I’m ready for this to be over. As someone pointed out, 82% of the ED applicants won’t be getting accepted this year, so it feels more like something is coming to an end.
Does Duke like siblings?
Only 45 more hours!!! Not like I’m counting or anything hahaha
