@biolover58 It may take 7 to 10 days for the Duke Admissions Office to process it. Do not worry if you sent in the ED agreement by 11/1. Good luck!
Applied late Oct 31 & received confirmation late Nov 2. Has anyone heard how many applied ED this year? I heard last year the numbers were way up & that info was leaked early. Since ED is closed, I was wondering if anyone had any info on it.
On my application portal my ACT score shows up but my SAT R score says reported but the highest section score is a blank box. Anyone else have this happen to them?
@HelpfulHelper This is exactly what I see in my portal. So it should be fine.
Awesome thank you for your response glad someone else having the same thing! I think it might just be a display error.
@cat111111000 Cool thanks for response glad someone else having similar thing happen. Probably just a display error.
@SlimJim005 where did this info leak on last year? also I emailed them 2 days ago asking them abt it but I doubt they will say lmao. also the ED deadline was extended for some ppl affected by hurricane Florence
Reddit had the info. It was a copy of an internal email from head of admissions to employees of Duke. Duke usually puts that info out when they announce the ED admits in mid-December, but I think his email was leaked in early November last year - shortly after ED deadline closed.
Who in this chat scored below a 34 but is still applying ED to Duke?
I don’t know about this chat, but there are two other threads asking something like “chance me” or “my chances”and one of them had a 33 and the other a 30. There are probably a lot of recruited athletes that will go ED with lower than a 32, but they already know that they’ll get in.
@mwolpert27 I have a 34 superscore but a 33 composite. but it counts as a 34 cause on my duke portal under act score it says “highest score: 34”. also I just took October ACT and am 99% sure I moved up to a 34 composite and 35 superscore. did u mean composite or superscore?
do u guys think I have a chance with a 3.79 UW GPA? my other stats are a 34 ACT and 3 4’s on my AP’s. also something that isn’t great is that my GPA is on a downward scale (like I was really strong freshman and sophomore year but then got some B+'s and A-'s juniors year). but this downward spiral was largely due to family issues which my guidance counselor spoke about. do u think my stats would be enough to make it pass the threshold?
Gut tells me that if you’re Asian or white w/a 32 ACT or lower or less than 1500 SAT, then it will be really tough unless you’re a recruited athlete or from a super-rich/donor family. Beyond that, only the people working in the admissions office know.
@SlimJim005 im asian Indian. I have good standardized testing but an okay GPA (3.79). but my bro currently goes to duke and my mom did her medical residency there (idk if that counts as anything tho).
If your brother is there now, you’re in
@SlimJim005 im pretty sure your perception of admissions is distorted. you keep on over emphasizing the impact of race & legacy and that seems to be the only qualifier deciding those who get in and dont get in. though I appreciate your feedback, that is not true at all. perhaps you are exaggerating, but the saludictorian of my school last year applied ED to duke and got rejected and is older sis currently goes to duke. he is obviously very smart and did a lot since he went on to receive a full scholarship from brown.
^agreed; a girl at our school was rejected ED last year and one of her close family members was Duke faculty. she seemed pretty qualified as well
also does anyone know if it shows up as a checkmark on the portal when you’ve submitted optional material? I have checks for all the required things (recs, transcript, etc) but I also had an additional, optional rec and there’s no checkmark beside it. wondering if my counsellor actually submitted the letter hahah
It looks like there are a lot more people applying to ED at Duke this year. I remember someone on this thread once said that the number of applicants already exceeded last year’s. Does anybody know any new information?
@londontipton I have a checkmark for my optional recommendation
