I've recently been sick and missed a few days of school. I have quite a few missing assignments and my current grades (we don't have quarters-only semesters) are not reflective of where they usually stand. I know I have to send in current grades next week, but I will not have time to make up all the tests I missed before the due date. Should I send a note with the current grades explaining the situation? I don't want to negatively affect my admission. I usually have a 4.6+, but right now I have 2 "Bs" so around a 4.2... I'm concerned they are gonna really look down on this! Any suggestions?

I would have your counselor send in a short and brief note, yes.

do you have to send your first quarter grades?

lalala: Yes, it’s required (as has been recently noted on CC’s Duke site).

The Duke application guidelines note that you must submit them whenever they are available. Talk with an AO, but maybe this could mean that your grades aren’t “available” per se until you make up your work.
