Duke-match because of ED and legacy
Rice-reach
Tufts-low reach
Michigan: low match
Middlebury: high reach
BU: match
CMU: depends on what school you’re applying to.
Elon: safety

The fact that CranberryOrange put Middlebury as a high reach should be reason enough for the OP to ignore his post.

Your numbers are on the low side for Duke and your extracurriculars are not impressive. If you have legitimate legacy (undergradute parent), it, along with the ED, gives you a fighting chance, but by no means is Duke a match.

You should be fine at all the schools on your list aside from NU, Vanderbilt and CMU.

Should be in at Duke. With the legacy and applying ED, your chances are great. I visited there this summer and was told that one third of the ED applicants are admitted.

Thanks katie! and billabongboy i appreciate your opinion, does it make any difference that my father was an undergrad and went to grad school at duke? He went to undergrad and then Duke Law School, so is that a different legacy then just undergrad?, or does it not make a difference.

Duke does look favorably on legacies. If interested in Boston area schools, might look at Holy Cross(don’t have to be religious). HC has great campus with nice website. Holy Cross has very strong alumni network in Baltimore-Washington area.

I’ve never heard of Emory, Elon, Middleberry or Vanderbilt, so no comment on those
Univ of Michigan Ann Arbor - match
Lehigh - low match/safety
Boston U - match
Carengie Mellon- low match/safety
Duke ED - match
Rice reach
Tufts - reach

oh also ive gotten over 100 hours of community service during summer trips in Peru, Spain, and Morocco, if that changes anyones opinions. please chance me!

Thanks for the chance I say that your test scores are def in the range for schools that you’re looking at! UW GPA is a tad low, but weighted is nice. I say decent ECs, not bunches of awards listed. I think your travel and family experiences can make for some amazing essays (also glad for your sister’s recovery). Wish you best of luck in college admissions and beyond, and for help for everybody in your family :)

I’m a junior btw so I obviously haven’t heard from Duke ED yet these are my current stats and probable next year stats so I’m just basing it off that. Thanks! and remember I’ll chance back immediately!
